6 White Soulful Singers We Once Thought Were Black

Posted On : May 5, 2016

We wanted to do this article because after highlighting several White soul singers on our Facebook page, we realized that there were so many of us who once thought that some of these artists you’re about to see, were actually Black. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again- we all know that soul music is a product of the Black culture, but every now and then, we have one of our White brothas (and sistas) from another Mother, who have just as much soul as Black folks. Soul is something that can’t be taught, you just gotta have it and t’s not that most of us haven’t seen someone trying to imitate soul, but that’s simply because they didn’t have it. BUT these singers you’re about to see, have true soul…don’t know how they got it, but that doesn’t matter, what matters is that they got it and they fooled a whole lot of us at one point. Ultimately this just goes to show that soul music has NO color- soul music simply has SOUL…

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
