Chuck Berry: My Ding-A-Ling

If you’re a certain age, then you certainly remember how our man, Chuck Berry managed to get millions of folks to scream the words: “My Ding-A-Ling” and if you weren’t born yet, you certainly still know this song…it’s that popular. This was originally written and recorded by Dave Bartholomew, but when Chuck covered it in 1972, it shot to #1 on Billboard. He tried to get slick with it by making it sound like a nursery rhyme…LOL. That could be how it flew right over the heads of some of the more conservative folks back then, but when he’s asking women to play with his “ding-a-ling,” even most of the kids knew what Mr. Berry was talking about. We still dug the song though.
