After Calling Jill Scott “Evil,” Her Estranged Husband Now Asks Her For One Favor

Posted On : November 16, 2017

The past 15 months have been one helluva roller coaster ride for Jill Scott (45) and her husband, Mike Dobson (49). On June 25, 2016 they shocked the world with a super private wedding. At that time, the newlyweds looked happier than a kid in a candy store. Then came yet another shock by the time November 7, 2017 rolled around- Jill filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper.” Soon after that news hit the internet, Mike spoke out and revealed that news was news to him too!

FYI: “Inappropriate marital conduct” can include a broad array of claims, including mental/physical abuse, infidelity, and/or sexual impropriety. Therefore, Mike immediately spoke out to try to clear his name.

Husband’s Prior “Evil Woman” Claims

As we previously reported, Mike also told Bossip that Jill completely “blindsided” him with the divorce filing and that her “inappropriate marital conduct” claims are figments of her imagination:

[Jill] Scott’s estranged husband Dobson told Bossip exclusively that he never laid a hand on his wife, cheated on her or made her engage in unwanted sexual contact. “She’s an evil woman,” the husband told us. “I’m telling you. It’s like what Jill Scott wants, Jill Scott gets. People are in her ear, and if someone comes in to challenge the dumb s**t, they made me be the bad guy and that got me outta there.” He added: “She’s got issues. There’s no men in that family, there’s only women. And when a man comes in, it’s like a challenge.”

“She’s made other men look bad, but I’m not the one. I said (to her) ‘you’ve met your match,’” Dobson said. “She likes to have men that she can control. You’re not gonna control me. What’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong. … She likes to emasculate men – that’s her problem,” Dobson said. “I told her, she’s from Philly, but I’m from New York, and if you want to try to disgrace me, try to slander me, I can fight dirty,” Dobson said.

Jill’s Husband’s New Request

Fast forward to nine days later and Mike is now asking Jill to do him and their kids (from prior relationships) a solid, by keeping their divorce proceedings civilized.

Via Bossip: Mike Dobson asked Jill to be more cordial when it came to their divorce dealings, and he pledged to do the same. “Please know that this very public approach to a sensitive matter like a divorce was never my intention, nor will it be my approach moving forward, despite the false statements published about me daily,” Dobson told us in a statement through his lawyer. “Jill and I collectively have three children involved here and for the sake of their privacy and dignity, I would just ask all parties involved not to comment, say mean things and to please respect my individual privacy, her privacy and our children, who have to read all of these comments and statements.”

He’s now vowed to never say anything negative about Jill publicly again and thanked fans for their support:

“From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you all, he said. “For anyone worried, please trust that God’s got my back! As for the [divorce] complaint filed against me, we will file my response very soon,” he said. “I ask you all to allow me my day in court.”

That’s a classy turnaround from the first time Jill’s soon-to-be-ex-husband spoke about her. This will be Jill Scott’s second divorce and third overall engagement. Her first marriage was in 2001, to her then longtime boyfriend, Lyzel Williams, a DJ and graphic artist- whom she divorced in 2007. In 2008 she became engaged to her drummer, Lil John Roberts, but in June 2008- two months after their son, Jett, was born- they’d called off their engagement. Now that Jill and Mike are divorcing, the brighter side of things- at least for us fans- is that she just might be inspired to give us some new classic Jill Scott love songs….just sayin.’ Best wishes to Mike and Jill.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
