The past six years have been extremely painful for Bobby Brown to say the least- he lost his mother Carole in 2011; his father, Herbert “Pops” Brown in January of 2012; then he lost his ex-wife of 15 years, Whitney Houston in February of 2012; and most recently, his beloved daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown in July of this year (2015). Now Bobby B. will be sharing his massive ups and downs with the world in his upcoming memoir titled, “My Prerogative,” which is slated for release in June 2016.

Bobby explained to the Associated Press why he decided to let the world in on his life’s story at this time:

“Right after I signed on to write my story, I went through one of the most agonizing traumas I had ever experienced with the death of my daughter,” Brown said.

“But I was surprised by how therapeutic it was to work on this project, to look at the entire arc of my life and to realize that although there has been considerable pain, I have also been incredibly blessed. I hope my fans and other readers of this book will be entertained by this trip into the crazy, exciting, fascinating world of Bobby Brown. And I hope they will feel that I have been as honest and open with them in these pages as I have tried to be my entire life.”

Bobby Brown does have a tendency to always speak brutally honest when talking about his life- even if parts of it aren’t so pretty, so this memoir should be very interesting – one that will make us laugh, cry, sometimes say to ourselves ‘Bobby was crazy!’ and most importantly it will probably be something that we can learn a thing, or two from.

As the case is still under investigation regarding Bobbi Kristina’s death, we hope Bobby and the Brown and Houston families are holding up as best as they possibly can during this very painful time.
bobby brown9On the lighter side of things, Michael Bivins recently admitted in his radio interview, he and his fellow New Edition group members were always in competition with each other back in the day, so it’s only natural to look at Bobby B.’s upcoming memoir and New Edition’s upcoming biopic (which is also slated for a 2016 release) as a little friendly competition. Bobby is the only N.E. member who isn’t executive producing the N.E. movie, so just like it was back in the day after Michael, Ralph, Ronnie, and Ricky voted Bobby out of the group and Bobby went on to have massive solo success, once again it’s ON and about to be N.E. vs. Bobby B., except this time they’re all rooting for each other to win.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
