He is Kiss band guitarist, Gene Simmons! Can you believe that?!! Gene and Diana dated from 1980 to 1982 and I’m not sure what they had in common for so long- other than the fact that they are both superstars- but they clearly were attracted to each other. So much so that according to Gene, Diana was even willing to risk her friendship to singer, Cher, over him…which she did. Why is that you ask? It’s because Gene was in a serious relationship with Cher for a few years at the time that he met Diana. According to Gene, Cher and Diana were best friends at the time though.

In 2014, Gene Simmons revealed in an interview with The Mirror UK, that Diana and Cher were best friends at the time that he started dating Diana, but that Diana’s and Cher’s friendship was ruined after Diana started dating him too. Here’s what he told The Mirror:

“I loved that she (Diana) was such a strong woman who was confident in her own skin. That’s the most seductive thing. If a man thinks a woman can live without them, that’s it. Initially, Cher and I had a relationship and we lived together in Malibu.

One Christmas I asked her what I should buy her and she said, “Call my friend Diana Ross, she will tell you exactly what I like as she is my best friend”. So I called Diana up and we went shopping. Then our feelings for each other developed very fast and we started a relationship together. I guess thereafter Cher and Diana never spoke.”

Laaawd! This is news to us, but I don’t know how to view this. This doesn’t change my view of the boss, Ms. Ross though, because she’s always been known to be a woman who is comfortable with herself and had no shame in her game when it came to dating. She’s been allegedly romantically connected to a lot of celebs throughout her career and she could care less what any of us think about it. Three baby daddies, several alleged celebrity relationships- Do your thing Diana! We ain’t mad at ya.’
