Do You Think These 2 Artists Can Pull Off The New “Wiz” Remake?

Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah! Ever since “Set It Off,” I was absolutely sold on Latifah’s acting ability and although Mary J. hasn’t starred in as big of roles as Latifah, she has shown that she has some skills in the acting arena also. Here is what The Hollywood Reporter said about Latifah and Mary J.’s roles:

Latifah will portray the Wiz, while Blige is on board as Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West. They join a cast that includesStephanie Mills — who starred as Dorothy in the original Broadway production — as Aunt Em in NBC’s live musical. A casting search is under way for the role of Dorothy.

I’m pretty confident that Latifah is going to do the role of the “Wiz” justice, but Mary J.’s role as “Evilene” is going to probably put her actng chops to the test. So we’ll have to wait and see what both of them can do on this one. We have faith in them though, but they surely do have some BIG ol’ shoes to fill. Coming behind Richard Pryor and Mabel King ain’t NO joke!

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
