Gladys Knight’s Chicken & Waffles RAIDED & Shut Down AGAIN, Here’s Why…

More bad news for Gladys Knight’s Chicken & Waffles restaurant. Or maybe we should use Prince’s past name approach and refer to it as the ‘restaurant formerly known as Gladys Knight’s Chicken & Waffles,’ due to Gladys’ successful settlement out of court in the legal battle between she and her son, Shanga Hankerson, over the removing her name from the brand.

Back to the unfortunate news part though, after only being re-opened for a short while, the Atlanta, Ga. (Peachtree St.) restaurant was raided by the feds on Thursday (2-24-17) and officially shut down as a result of what Shanga said were ‘“tax-related issues” he had to get paid before the business license could be reinstated,’ according to The Atlanta Journal Constitution.

This is the second time the restaurant was closed in February. The first was a brief closing due to a failed health inspection that was resolved within a matter of days.

TWO OUT OF THREE LOCATIONS CLOSED PERMANENTLY

Another downfall for the restaurant is that out of the three Georgia locations, only one was still open for business. Their Lithonia, Ga. location closed in August (2016) and the other Atlanta, Ga. location on Cascade Rd. was officially closed in October (2016). After the feds raided the three restaurants in July 2016 and arrested Shanga for allegedly owing $1 million in taxes for them, he had to shut the two locations down.

SEE WHY GLADYS IS STILL INVOLVED IN HER SON’S RESTAURANT PROBLEMS FOR NOW THOUGH…
