Okay let’s just all start this article off with a collective and appropriate phrase: “Lawd Ha’mercy!” That’s the natural reaction that first comes to mind when looking at how beautiful “Shug Avery” from The Color Purple is still looking nowadays. One thing we never miss the opportunity of doing, here at ILoveOldSchoolMusic,  is celebrating an old school legend who is still here with us today and isn’t just scratchin’ and survivin,’ like the Good Times theme song, but actually LIVING life, staying healthy, and in the case of actress/singer, Margaret Avery a.k.a. “Shug Avery,” is also looking d*mn good while doing it!

Margaret is continuing to be an inspiration to many and we’d like to take this moment to officially induct her into the same ‘aging fabulously’ category as the other Queens who are making their 70’s look like the new 50’s: Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle, and Gladys Knight!
