It’s Brian McKnight- the R&B crooner who is one of the last men standing from the era where R&B cats were still creating baby-making slow jams and singing REAL R&B!

Brian and his beautiful Asian girlfriend, Leiland, have been together for 2 years and based on how often Brian posts lovey-dovey pics of them on his social media pages, he is head over heels in love…AGAIN and ain’t nothing wrong with that.
I say ‘again’ because some of you may recall a video surfacing of Brian McKnight singing his song, “Proposal” on Valentines Day to another girlfriend (who is also of Asian descent) in 2010. It was NOT his current girlfriend, Leiland, it was his girlfriend prior to her. Brian serenaded her live on stage, gave her roses and kissed her to let the world know she was his…he looked happy. She didn’t looked appreciative, but not very touched by his serenade, but she could have just been nervous up there on stage in front of everyone, who knows. That previous girlfriend was the one Brian got with soon after he and his wife (and mother of his children) Julie, divorced in 2003 after 13 years of marriage. Here’s a pic of Julie…

Fast forward to today and Brian and Leiland seem to really be in love- I’m talking about that old school first love type of love- and that’s a beautiful thing, so we hope this one works out for the brotha. (By the way, you can pre-order his new album, “Better,” on iTunes).

Here is something that we found interesting in doing research for this article: Many American men of all races actually prefer women of the Asian persuasion verses other races. There was  a study done on the Facebook App, ‘Are You Interested,’ about online dating preferences of Americans and of the 2.4 million heterosexual interactions researchers reviewed, they found that ALL men – White, Black, Latino, others – preferred seeking dates with Asian women more than any other race. There was one exception though- Asian men were the only group that was seeking dates with OTHER women EXCEPT Asian women, go figure.

We threw this topic around for a minute, over here at ILOSM, and tried to understand why so many men prefer Asian women. It could be simply because of the myths that imply that Asian women are more sexually free; are far more submissive than other races; and that they all treat their men like Kings.
