Jamie Foxx Has Strong Words About Kathy Griffin’s Graphic Trump Photo

Actor/singer, Jamie Foxx has recently spoken out about comedienne, Kathy Griffin’s, controversial photo of herself holding a beheaded bloody replica of Donald Trump’s head.

Jamie, himself had just received some backlash from Nyle DiMarco– the first deaf contestant to win Dancing With The Stars and America’s Next Top Model over his impromptu sign language joke on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

So although Kathy has since caught a ton of heat from all angles (from both Trump supporters and anti-Trump supporters) and later issued a public apology, she has also found a few allies in the comedic world. One of them is Jamie Foxx. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jamie was asked about the heat Kathy’s been catching, and he basically explained how the art of being a comedian is similar to what Charlie Murphy once comically described Rick James as -“an habitual line-stepper.” See what Jamie said below:

Jamie Foxx On Kathy Griffin’s Bloody Trump Photo

Jamie Foxx via ET: “Listen, as comedians, sometimes you do go beyond, past the line. I still love Kathy Griffin. She went past the line, she’ll pay for it in the way she pays for it, and we’ll go out and we’ll laugh with her again. […] Don’t kill the comedian. There’s a lot of people out here doing really bad things and every time a comedian says anything, says something about peanuts, [people say] ‘You’re peanut-shaming!’ [A comedian] says something about dolphins, [people say] ‘Oh my god, you’re a dolphin-shamer.’ We’re the comics, we’re entertainers, we don’t mean any harm.”

Foxx then brought up the debatable topic of what’s allowed and shamed in the media today:

“It’s not the comedian’s fault for everything that’s going wrong, man. Trust me. The world is filled with people that mean you harm and we sit and we give them a pass.  So I know she made her mistake or whatever, and we’re all going to make mistakes, but you need us, man, because we’re there to make you laugh.” -Jamie Foxx

At first I thought Jamie was just gonna blame Kathy’s Trump pic on “the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol” but I see I was wrong about that one.

‘In Living Color’ Co-Star, Jim Carrey, Defends Kathy Griffin’s Trump Pic

Foxx; Jim Carrey

Foxx wasn’t the only comic to defend Kathy’s Trump pic, his In Living Color co-star, Jim Carey, gave his two cents about the situation too:

Via ET: “It’s the job of the comedian to cross the line at all times. That line is not real and if you step out into that spotlight and you’re doing the crazy things that [Trump is] doing, we’re the last line of defense. The comedians are the last voice of truth in this whole thing. It’s impossible to get away from it.” “I had a dream the other night that I was playing golf with Donald Trump,” Jim Carrey said. “I was standing beside him with a club in my hand and I was considering my options when I suddenly woke up. It was one of those dreams where you want to go back to sleep so you can finish it, you know? But I’ve taken up golf anyway.”

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
