Now Grown Men, The Boys Pay Beautiful Tribute To Their Mother On Mother’s Day

Posted On : May 14, 2017

Back in the 80’s we loved The Boys, in fact, many tweens couldn’t get enough of “Dial My Heart,” “Lucky Charm,” “Crazy” and more. Parents loved them because they provided kid friendly jams that they didn’t have to put on mute when they aired on the radio.

The Boys – Khiry, Hak (formerly Hakeem), Abdulasamad Tahj, and Bilal Samadhi- also had both of their parents in their lives who loved them dearly and dedicated their lives to their kids’ dreams and musical aspirations. So today, the Samadhi brothers (The Boys) are reciprocating that love back to their mother, Antoinette Satterwhite, on this beautiful Mother’s Day. Check out how they showed their Momma love in their own ways below…

Hak, who has two sons of his own now, wrote a touching post on Facebook recalling some of the key moments he’s grateful his mother played a role in as he evolved from a boy to a man:

Happy Mother’s Day Ma ( Angela Satterwhite ) <3
REMEMBER that time i had a nervous breakdown because i didn’t want to go to school ? and you took me to a restaurant, calmed me down, and eased my fears. thank you !
REMEMBER how you used to drop me off at the music store and pick me up many hours later ? thank you !
REMEMBER how you would allow my girlfriend to come over as long as i left my bedroom door open ? thank you !
REMEMBER how you supported me in my longest juice fast, the last 10 days in complete silence and seclusion ? thank you !
REMEMBER how you came to Africa and made sure I was set for life ? thank you !
… there is not enough space here to thank you for all the gifts you’ve given us (the whole family). In Africa they say “God Will Pay You”. In the spirit of Mother’s Day, I ask you to pray for ME/US and shower your greatest blessings so that one day (soon) we will make you more than proud, more than happy, more than fulfilled. The power is in your hands !!! Amen, Amin, Ashe, And So It Is !

Bilal, the youngest of the group, is also a father of two and a husband to his lovely wife, Tiffany. See how he paid tribute to his wife and his Moms:

As for the two other brothers- Tahj and Khiry- although they haven’t posted anything on social media for Mother’s Day, they’re brothers’ words also speak for them regarding the love and appreciation they have for their Mother.

What The Boys Have Been Up To Lately

After their mega-success as kid singers in the U.S., The Boys decided to pack up and live in Africa, where their family stayed for many years. Today, some of them have returned to the U.S, but stay closely connected to their African home as well, which is where they became men and some of them had and/or partially raised their children there.

The Boys now go by the name, The Suns of Light, and after releasing several successful solo projects in Africa, they are reportedly working on new music to be released in the U.S.

On a side note, does anybody else feel old after seeing The Boys in their 40’s and mid to late 30s now? Where in the world did the time go?!!! Wow!

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
