Michael’s publicist said that he had ‘passed away peacefully’ at his property in Goring at 1.42pm today.

Michael rose to fame as a member of Wham!, who are known for their hits most familiar to us “old schoolers” like, “Father Figure”, “Careless Whisperer”, and “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”. The star whose real name is Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, sold more than 100 million albums throughout a career which spanned almost four decades.

Michael, who was set to release a documentary in 2017, rose to fame as a member of Wham!,

In a statement, the star’s publicist said:

‘It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.

Michael, 53, had previously battled alcohol and drug addiction.  However, the circumstances around his death are currently unknown. Many knew that Michael struggled with drugs during his life, and he was arrested several times including an incident where he was arrested for lewd conduct at a public toilet in London in 2008.

We will deliver more details as we find out more and in the meantime, see the list of pain and struggles George Michael was dealing with…
