Actor, Kristoff St. John, best known for his decades long run on the soap opera, The Young N’ The Restless, has just been placed into a psychiatric ward. The news broke early Sunday and according to TMZ, his ex-wife/former boxer, Mia St. John, called authorities to have him evaluated. He was ordered to remain in the psych ward for at least 72 hours. Here is what was reported:

Via TMZ: ‘Young and The Restless’ star Kristoff St. John was hospitalized and placed under psychiatric evaluation after allegedly threatening to kill himself with a gun. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Kristoff’s ex-wife, Mia, called cops Thursday evening and told them Kristoff had been sending her photos showing the soap star holding a gun to his head. When cops arrived, they confiscated 2 guns and placed Kristoff under a 72-hour hold for mental evaluation.

It was also reported that the reason Kristoff is allegedly wanting to kill himself, is because his deceased son’s 3 year death anniversary is quickly approaching -on November 23rd- and the pain is becoming way too much for Kristoff to withstand.

Details On His Son’s Death & St. John’s Multimillion Dollar Lawsuit Over It

As we reported a few years ago, Kristoff and Mia’s 24 year old son, Julian St. John, committed suicide on November 23, 2014, while hospitalized at psychiatric treatment facility for his schizophrenia.

Soon after Julian’s death, Kristoff and Mia did a heart wrenching interview about it with Entertainment Tonight and Kristoff could barely get through it. However, because he and Mia have now dedicated their lives toward spreading awareness about mental health issues and treatment facilities, Kristoff felt he owed to the public to push through the interview.

He also feels that he owes it to his son, because the St. Johns had to file a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the psych hospital over Julian’s death.

Via TMZ: Kristoff St. John is suing the hospital where his son committed suicide — blasting the mental facility for giving him access to the plastic bag he used to kill himself. The “Young and the Restless”star’s 24-year-old son Julian St. John killed himself in November [2014] while getting treatment at La Casa Mental Health Hospital in Long Beach. He was found dead in a bathroom with a plastic bag over his head.

The reason for Kristoff’s wrongful death lawsuit — he says his son did the same thing less than 3 weeks before his death … attempting to asphyxiate himself with a trash bag from his room. In the wrongful death suit, Kristoff says after that failed attempt … the hospital never removed the trash bags from his room.

In his lawsuit, Kristoff says there’s evidence the nurses were falsifying records. He says staffers were supposed to check on Julian every 15 minutes because he was a high suicide risk — but records show they were logging welfare checks before they even happened. For instance, Julian was pronounced dead at 1:44 PM, but nurses had already logged 6 welfare checks between 2 PM and 3:15 PM. Kristoff feels the facility was negligent in its supervision of his son — and if the staff had “acted with even the slighted regard for Julian’s safety, he would still be alive today.”

Not sure if the lawsuit has ever been resolved, but hopefully, Kristoff St. John and Mia were able to get justice for their son. We’re also sending uplifting energy to Kristoff during this difficult time.
