After Soul Train, Louie trained with a world renowned action coach, Milton Katselas for seven years. He then went on to gain diverse roles as Walter Lee, in a “Raisin in the Sun”, and many others. The years of training and gaining notoriety as an actor, led to his playing the title role of Othello! “Becoming the best actor I can be is, and has been, my main focus in life. I have studied my entire career. I still study. I’ve been blessed with great mentors.”

Louie is 6’5, half Black, half Mexican was born and raised in Inglewood, CA, and he will be the first to tell you he is where he is in life because of four things: faith, hard work, encouraging parenting, and his time as one of the most infamous dancers in the 40-year history of Soul Train.

He admits he never was a trained dancer. “Michael Jackson was a big influence on me. I really miss that dude. I was also influenced heavily by James Brown and Elvis. My moves and style was just a physical improvisation to the music. Whatever the music said to me I would just do it.”

Louie has danced in the room with everyone you can imagine in his many years on Soul Train, from Babyface, to Earth, Wind, & Fire, to Hall & Oates, but there is one memory that sticks with Big Louie, and from that one of he developed a relationship with one of his best friends still today…
