Remember This Sesame Street Kid? Who Knew He Was Convicted Of THIS?
Remember John John? He was the cute kid with the chubby cheeks on Sesame Street, who made counting to 20 one of the most memorable TV moments in the history of, well, TV. When he counted with “Herry Monster” he did it with his own style and belted those numbers out in a freestyle fashion that not even the writers and directors could have orchestrated any better. Unfortunately that was then, and this is now.
We always love to see our old school celebs like “Celie” from The Color Purple and “Troy” from the Spike Lee movie,Crooklyn doing so well now, but its a really hard pill to swallow when we see one whose story doesn’t end up as perfect as we would like. John has a really sad story that just proves what we always say here at ILOSM- that these old school celebs have accomplished some great things in their lives, but that doesn’t always mean that they are great and perfect people, they’re simply flawed human beings, just like the rest of us. Keep reading to see what horrific crime John John was convicted of.
We didn’t hear much else from John after he made his last appearance on Sesame Street in 1989 when he was about 20 years old and appeared on the show for a special reunion. During that time, he was in the Air Force and was stationed at Laughlin AFB in Texas. He and his wife had two children.
About 10 years later, in 1999, is when everything went completely sour. John ended up getting convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault Of A Child in the state of Texas. Texas Department Of Public Safety Sex Offender Registryrecords state that John sexually assaulted a 4 year old female child and that he was sentenced to 5 years in prison, was released on parole and is now under a lifetime mandatory supervision by the state of Texas. He has to register with the state every year as a sex offender and his last registration verification was on September 24, 2015. John currently resides in San Antonio, TX.
It’s been rumored that the child was his stepdaughter, while other rumors suggest it was his biological daughter, but those are all completely alleged, unconfirmed details regarding his assault charges on a child.
We do not know for sure who’s child it actually was, but it’s extremely sad on all levels. Here are the details that were provided by The Texas Public Safety Sex Offender Registry and The Texas Sex Offender archives database:
We wanted to shed some light on this situation because we all need to constantly be aware of the dangers that are lurking out here for our children and our grandchildren. If you suspect someone you know may have a problem with any type of pedophilia, or if you know a child who has been a victim, we’ve listed several organizations and 1-800 numbers that offer help for victims and those afflicted with the disease of pedophilia at the end of this article.
One thing you can do is please take a few minutes to Google ‘help for pedophiles and/or victims of pedophiles’ and you will find countless organizations that can help those afflicted with this psychological disorder, or who have been afflicted by those with the disorder.
John John will always bring back wonderful memories from his days on Sesame Street back in the day, that’s something that can never be denied. But we can only hope that John Bernard Williams, the man, has received the help that he needs to address any issues he may have today and more importantly, that his victim has been able to heal from any psychological wounds that horrible incident may have caused her.
ILOSM fam’ we wish this story could have had a happy ending, but that’s just not realistic in some cases, nor is it a realistic representation of life as we all know it. At this point, all we can use this information to learn from it and hopefully help someone else. Thanks for reading this.
