So Sad, See How This Slave Band Member DIED &Why His Family Wants Answers

Mark Leslie Adams Sr., the bassist for the 70’s/80’s soul-funk group, Slave (known for their jams like “Just A Touch of Love,” “Watching You,” “Slide,” and more), was brutally murdered in 2011 and his long-time girlfriend/mother of three of his children, Sheena Damico is spearheading their family’s search to find out who killed Mark.

Below is the message Sheena sent to us with the hopes that someone out there will know something about who killed their beloved Mark Adams:

Sheena Damico: “Mark Leslie Adams Sr. was murdered March 5, 2011 in Columbus Ohio. Mark was an original founding member of the National Recording Group Slave with Atlantic Records. We know Mark was killed between midnite and 3am … we also know there were three crime scenes … one had been ruled out by the detectives … we need closure and JUSTICE … If anyone has any information please contact Columbus Homicide.”

“He died from blunt force trauma to the back of the head … Two people told me He was hit with a gun…the police have been no help…in the 5 yrs he’s been gone I have found out alot of info that they havnt ….[…]… I knew it when I got the call… Our children and grandkids need closure…I’m thinking of marching from Columbus square to the police station to try to get them to investigate…the last officer I spoke with said they didn’t investigate because he was listed as a DOA which is dead on arrival… That irked me to no end we want to know HOW and by WHO… Thank you and God Bless You for your support!” -Sheena

MARK ADAMS WAS INVOLVED IN THREE ALTERCATIONS SAME DAY OF HIS DEATH

Sheena said that Mark had been involved in three separate altercations earlier that day.

Mark struggled with depression, drug and alcohol abuse and he was scheduled to enter rehab in March of 2011, just before he was killed. His autopsy determined that there were no drugs, nor alcohol in his system at the time of his death though.

SHEENA REFUSES TO QUIT LOOKING FOR MARK’S KILLER

Sheena says that although she’s had little success, she refuses to quit looking for Mark’s killer because she has three children with Mark and they also have eight grandchildren a one new great-grandbaby- all of whom deserve closure.

Their children, Maureesa, Mark. Jr., and Martina range in age from 35, 30, and 27.

Mark also had two other children: his daughter, Aingel Adams; and his son, Dr. Christen Mark Adams, M.D. who unexpectedly passed away in 2014 at the age of 32.

Sheena said she is very frustrated and hurt that Mark’s fellow Slave bandmates offer no support in helping her find out what happened to Mark and she said one of them (who she refused to name) told her “I got my own thing I’m doing.”

MARK IS NOT GETTING HIS ROYALTY MONEY

Sheena also revealed that Mark wrote songs for many artists, including Kriss Kross, Al B. Sure, Jodeci, and many others and that later in his life, he was very frustrated that he was owed a lot of royalties that he has yet to receive.

Our condolences to all of Mark Leslie Adam’s loved ones and we sincerely hope the police department re-opens the investigation into his murder and that the family can soon get closure in his untimely death. Rest easy Mark and we’ll keep jammin’ to the many hits you contributed to in your honor…
