Her name is Laverne Toney and she has been flying under the radar throughout this sad ordeal surrounding B.B.’s illness and death.

Now that B.B. King has unfortunately passed away (5-14-15), the worst has happened: According to Associated Press, the daughters say they are upset that they were not at least given the chance to see their father prior to his death and that Laverne Toney is the reason. Forbes.com reports that Laverne Toney ‘says that the children could have scheduled a visit to see him as they’ve always been able to do.’

King’s daughters didn’t see him at all during the last 2 weeks of his life — and are now just hoping they can be involved in planning his memorial. Patty King says she and her sister Karen Williams spoke to B.B.’s manager Laverne Toney on Thursday morning, and she had agreed to let them see B.B. on Saturday at noon. But Patty says Toney called her at 9:40 PM to say her father had died peacefully in his sleep.[/su_quote]

We have been covering this story for a few weeks now, and now that things have finally taken the ultimate turn for the worst, this situation between the family and Toney is looking really ugly. We’re not sure if what Laverne Toney is saying is true, but we have to report this and take her word for it.

The only thing is that, if it is a fact that Laverne Toney would have allowed B.B.’s loved ones to “schedule a visit,” it is also a fact that she had control over when she would have been available to allow those said visits to take place. Therefore that brings us back to what the daughters are saying about their anger toward her for not allowing them to see their dad prior to his death. You see, their side of this story is also quite possible, because the fact that they did not see him prior to his passing speaks volumes.

In my opinion, when a loved is on their death bed, it’s more natural to just let the love the flow, especially from the children. That love will help them to transition. ‘Scheduling’ simply has no place in that equation.
