See Why Will Smith Says He’s Running For President

Posted On : December 15, 2015

fb willWill Smith has just announced that he is seriously going to get into politics and that he’s not just looking to get into any level of politics, but that he’s going for the gusto- he’s running for PRESIDENT. Not in this current presidency run of course, but probably in the near future. What pushed Will to make that decision? He admitted that he’s about sick and tired of Donald Trump’s antics. He called Trump’s views crazy and said that he now feels forced to do something that he always thought he would eventually end up doing anyway and that is to officially step into the political arena. After we heard him say that, he had our attention. So here is the rest of what Will told CBS News Sunday about how he feels he has so much more he needs to accomplish, his potential presidency run and Trump:

“There’s a thing that I’m supposed to be doing, there’s a person I want to be that I always saw a reflection in my grandmother’s eyes of what it is, but I can’t reach that thing. There’s so much more that I feel I have to offer that I can’t access in myself,” says Will.

smith2 When asked about what he thinks he would like to strive for next, Will’s reply was:

‘If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena.”

When asked to elaborate on what type of future in politics he foresaw for himself, Will aimed high and replied:
“I mean, I gotta be the president. Come on! What else would I run for?”

donald trump3In case you missed it, Will is referring to Donald Trump’s recent comments about Muslims and Mexicans. Trump caused controversy earlier this month, when his campaign issued a press release stating this:
“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”

Trump also eluded to having a Muslim database that would require all Muslim-Americans to sign up for it, so that they can all be tracked and identified at all times. Trump also told Fox News’ Sean Hannity this when he was asked if he would shut down some mosques in the U.S. out of fear of terrorism:
“There’s absolutely no choice. Some really bad things are happening and they’re happening fast. Certainly a lot faster than our president understands because he doesn’t understand anything.”

will-smith-Another thing Will is referring to is the time Trump said that he would “build a wall” around the Mexican border to keep Mexicans- whom he stereotyped as mostly being killers, rapists, and criminals- out of the country (similar to the Berlin Wall that prevented East Germans from immigrating to West Germany and other parts of the Western European countries, where there was more opportunity to earn a better living and escape poverty). We could go on and on about all of the groups of people Trump has offended throughout his political campaign- including women and African Americans- but we think you pretty much get why Will is not feeling Trump’s political outlook.

Will further explained that he’s always shot for the stars and dreamed big, and that his ambition is still churning:

“I realized that the dream was too small. You know, I realized that there was no way that I was put here just to be a movie star.”

“This is the first year that I’ve been incensed to a level where I can’t sleep.”

Will passes that same level of ambition onto his children when he tells them:

“Be as unrealistic as possible, and then figure out how to make it real. The best things that have ever happened, ever, were unrealistic before they happened. So for me, I think being the biggest movie star in the world as a goal actually was too small!”

That’s some wise advice from Will Smith and as far as his potential presidency run in the future, why not? Anybody would be better than Donald Trump at this point, just saying.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
