Wendy Williams is never one to mince words but every now and then, those words come back to bite her. This is definitely one of those times. Apparently, Wendy had some harsh words for the woman accusing Nelly of rape and now she’s back peddling.

Harsh Words:

When Wendy Williams discussed the ordeal during the infamous “Hot Topics” segment of her show on Monday, October 9, she had some relatively harsh words for Nelly’s accuser. According to The Jasmine Brand, Wendy even insisted the woman may have “put herself in that situation” if the allegations are true. “If she did not put herself in that situation, this wouldn’t have happened. Young lady, you’ve got to stay out of tour buses.” Of course, Wendy’s attempt to blame the victim didn’t go over well for many people. Almost immediately after the segment aired, social media users wasted no time dragging Wendy for her callous words.

So, on Tuesday, October, Wendy opted to address the situation and offer an apology for her seemingly offensive statements.

Wendy’s Explanation:

Wendy offered a detailed “It’s never an easy job sitting here in the lavender chair by myself with nobody to bounce off of. Sometimes I might say something that you don’t understand, but I am the girl to cop to it. Maybe cavalierly you caught my comments, ‘You got to watch where you go.’ I didn’t mean anything by it.” She went on to share details about a disheartening personal situation she experienced as a child. Apparently, there were times when Wendy was also made to feel uncomfortable around men. “What I meant is, once upon a time there was a girl named Wendy and she was only 13 years old but looked like a woman.”

Tearfully, she apologized. “All I’m saying regarding young women and I apologize if my message was met with callousness. But what I meant to say is young ladies, we should be able to go wherever we want to go, but we always have to know where the exits are. We always have to have our $20 bill, just in case. And we have to be aware. That’s all I was saying, I apologize.”

Celebrity Support:

Wendy’s tearful apology comes just days after Nelly’s arrest made headlines. By now, everyone has probably heard about Nelly’s alleged rape scandal. The St. Louis rapper was arrested in Washington state over the weekend after he was accused of raping a woman on his tour bus. The reports sparked a media firestorm as people everywhere began weighing in with their opinion of the situation. Although many people are giving Nelly the side eye, like Wendy, a number of celebrities have been supportive of Nelly. At
