Harvey’s Daughter Was Angry Over What He Did To Her Fiancé When They First Begin Dating

There are a lot of dads out there who would do just about anything to protect their daughters. Steve Harvey is no different. The 61-year-old’s youngest daughter Lori got engaged last summer, but not before Steve had him thoroughly checked out.
Steve Admitted What He Did
At the time she said yes to 23-year-old Memphis Depay’s (pictured below) proposal, Lori was only 20 herself. And seeing as her dad is a successful, multi-million dollar entertainer, who could blame Steve for wanting to make sure that the young man is legit?
Steve admitted that he had Memphis followed which made Lori furious. But Steve is her dad, not her friend, so he offered zero apologies. The young man is a pro soccer player and Steve wanted to make sure that every game he played was on a field and not with Lori’s heart.
“She knows now, but when she found out she was upset,” PEOPLE magazine reported. “What you trippin’ for? I’m trying to help you. You think he cute, I don’t. You find him attractive. The boy is just a boy to me.”

Steve went on to explain that he has standards for the kind of men that his daughters can date. They have to treat them with respect or keep it moving.
“If you’re not going to treat her the way I’ve treated her, and the way I’ve treated her mama, then you can’t have her,” Steve said. “And then I’m going to fix it.”
The Think Like A Man author has been to the altar a few times and knows a thing or two about how players operate. He also knows what can happen to a woman when her heart gets broken. But apparently Memphis passed Steve’s tests with flying colors. He tweeted that Lori had his blessing calling him “a good one.”
Lori in turn tweeted that she is in love, not pregnant, and believes that she has found “the one.” The now-21-year-old responded to concerns about the couple’s ages much the same way Steph Curry did when he and Ayesha jumped the broom.
“Yes, we are young, but when it’s right, why wait?” Lori said.
