Posted On : January 30, 2017

ILOSM family, we’re not sure why N.E. didn’t cover this unfortunate, tragic incident (which left one person dead) in The New Edition Story (could have been due to lack of time). But for those of you who missed our previous article we published in 2014 about this New Edition & Guy beef that escalated into a day they probably all regret, here it is…**SEE ACTUAL 1990 NEWSPAPER CLIPPING ON THIS INCIDENT IN GALLERY BELOW**

IT ALL WENT DOWN AT SUPERFEST '89

Screen Shot 2017-01-30 at 3.47.49 PM Things turned violent between N.E. and Guy in July of 1989 during the infamous Budweiser Superfest in Greensboro, N.C.. It turns out that, the same scene we saw in the movie where BBD ran up onstage after Bobby B. disrespected them by dragging his show out into their allotted time slot, is the EXACT same thing that sparked the beef between N.E. and Guy, BUT there was a different turn of events that happened next. Here's what was reported at that time via Deborah Wilker of Sun Sentinal newspaper:

The trouble had started on July 8 at the Budweiser Superfest in Greensboro, N.C., when Guy -- playing as part of that five-act show -- stayed too long onstage. This angered members of New Edition, who brazenly took the stage while Guy was performing. At first, audience members cheered, thinking the two popular bands would be performing together. But then, according to witnesses and published reports, a fight broke out onstage among the group members. Fists flew. Equipment flew. And the show was suspended for one hour.

BUT THAT'S WHEN THINGS TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORSE, SEE WHO ENDED UP MURDERED, INJURED, OR IN JAIL>>>
