By now, everyone knows Quincy Jones spilled many different flavors of tea this week with his bombshell Vulture magazine interview. For those who missed that, Jones kept it all the way real sharing secrets about some of Hollywood’s biggest entertainers. In fact, Jones even criticized a few big names in music but the bottom line is Jones cut no corners and kept it all the way real. From Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, and The Beatles to Marlon Brando and Richard Pryor, Jones had a lot to say. In fact, he even spoke about Ivanka Trump, Hillary Clinton and a few others. As expected, his interview has ruffled a few feathers but there’s one big celebrity who refuses to criticize Quincy Jones.
Oprah Reacts:
Following the famed producer/director’s video, TMZ caught up with Oprah Winfrey. When asked how she felt about Quincy Jones spillin’ so much tea, she had a relatively interesting response to all of the backlash he’s received. In true Oprah fashion, she steered clear of the drama and had nothin’ but great things to say about the legendary musician.
For those who don’t know, Jones worked as a producer on the set of the 1985 classic film, The Color Purple. So, of course, he had the opportunity to work with Oprah Winfrey who also starred in the film. During the Vulture interview, Jones recalled working with Steven Spielberg. “What happened was that I was a producer on The Color Purple. Spielberg and me are still great friends, man. He’s a great f**king guy. I loved working with him,” said Jones.
So, the publication asked Oprah how was it to work with Quincy Jones. Oprah admitted she hadn’t even read the interview but even if she had, it obviously wouldn’t change her opinion of Jones. “Look, Quincy is a friend of mine. You are not going to get me to say one thing about Quincy,” Winfrey declared. “Quincy Jones discovered me for The Color Purple. You will not hear me say a bad thing about [Jones].”

Defending Quincy:
While most people would say there’s always two sides to a story in any case, surprisingly, many celebrities have spoken out in defense of Quincy Jones. In fact, some people have even confirmed that he only spoke the truth during the interview; even in cases where the details seemed sketchy. In addition to Oprah Winfrey, Richard Pryor’s widow Jennifer Pryor and former Motown singer Tevin Campbell have spoken out to defend Jones. Although T-Pain wasn’t exactly thrilled about Jones’ criticism of him, he, too, confirmed details about Jones statements about their interactions. So, even though many people weren’t happy with all of Jones’ comments, it looks like he kept it real.
