LL Cool J is a man of many hats – legendary rapper, famed actor, businessman, husband, and father. But, as we previously reported, now he’s gaining another title – grandfather.  LL’s wife, Simone Smith, recently revealed they are set to become grandparents later this year. For those who don’t know, ‘Mr. and Mrs. Cool J’s oldest daughter, Italia Anita Maria Smith-Cardinez, will celebrate her 28th birthday on January 3. Like most parents, Simone is very proud of her first-born, so she shared a heartfelt video in honor of their beautiful daughter’s upcoming birthday.

To bring in the new year, Simone celebrated by uploading footage of an emotional exchange between her and Italia. In the video, Simone recalled how wonderful of an experience motherhood was for her and how much her daughter means to her. “You have been my best friend. You call me… can I just tell you my daughter calls me everyday,” says Simone, fighting back tears. “It’s just been a pleasure raising you,” she continues. “And I just absolutely love you to pieces…. And you look like me too!”

In the video’s caption, Simone wished her daughter an early birthday and revealed the amazing thing about her reference to motherhood – her daughter will share that same experience in the near future.

“Happy Birthday Tali Wali. This time next year you will be a mother and will experience the same joy I did raising you and your siblings. There is no job more important than being a mom and no feeling more special. You are going to be an AMAZING mom!!!!! But of course, you are!! You’ve learned from of the BEST. I love you more.”

Italia’s pregnancy comes months after her big wedding. Back in June of 2017, Italia made headlines when she tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at the Sparkling Pointe Vineyards and Winery in Long Island, New York, reports Essence. Now Italia and her husband are preparing for the next chapter in their lives. Congratulations to the Cardinez family!
