Like many residents in Southern California, Oprah Winfrey is recovering from the devastating acts of Mother Nature. The billionaire businesswoman recently took to Instagram with footage of the damage to her massive Santa Barbara estate. The footage has since gone viral.

Earlier today, Oprah posted two Instagram videos from her home after her upscale Santa Barbara community was battered by the disheartening natural disaster. The former talk show host revealed she woke up to what appeared to be a nightmare as the wildfires continued to set surrounding areas ablaze. Her neighbors were reportedly being rescued by helicopter as others searched for missing persons, according to The Blast.

As Oprah stepped through her yard in knee-deep mud, she showed footage of all the debris from the rain, mudslides, and gas fires. With the post, she included a caption focusing on the positive aspects of the situation. Although there was damage to her property and a back house was destroyed, she still considered it to be “minor damage. She also admitted that she’s thankful because her neighbor’s home was far worse. “Thanks everyone for your prayers and concern. My property is fine. Some mud and minor damage that pales in comparison to what my neighbors are going thru. #mudslides,” Oprah wrote.

Oprah’s $50M Haven:

Oprah Winfrey purchased the 42-acre Montecito estate back in June of 2001. Before Oprah purchased the home, it was owned by Southern California industrialist Robert Veloz and his wife, Marlene, The couple purchased the home for $14 million in 1998 and opted for a complete renovate of the home. According to SF Gate, the couple – with the help of Corinna Gordon Interior Design of Montecito and Los Angeles – spent three years remodeling the home before selling it to Oprah. The couple initially planned to use the estate for major fundraisers but their plans quickly changed when Oprah flew into town from Chicago for a photo shoot for O magazine. It has been reported that she fell in love with the property and made an offer the couple couldn’t refuse. Now, the rest is history.
