But these days, he’s turning heads for a very different reason. Apparently, the famed actor/comedian’s recent standup routine led fans to believe he may be facing health problems.

According to EURWeb, John Witherspoon recently appeared during a standup comedy show and, of course, fans were enjoying the Friday star, but things quickly took a turn for the worse. Witherspoon was filmed as other comedians gathered around him. He assured the crowd he was fine as he appeared to struggle. Witherspoon reportedly said “something was wrong while yelling out to the audience not to worry and that he’d be back on stage,” according to the publication. The video of Witherspoon was posted by Akadmiks on Instagram. The caption for the video read, “Went to see John Witherspoon at KC Improv & he seemed to possibly be having a stroke. He was escorted off stage.”

What Really Happened?:

Right now, John Witherspoon’s health condition remains unknown, but there is speculation that he may have a had a stroke onstage. However, no further details about his condition have been revealed. John Witherspoon captured the attention of fans with his memorable television and film roles. In 1973, the Detroit native made his first television appearance on Barnaby Jones.
