With all of the back and forth drama that has been the talk of the internet in the past few months regarding Xscape singer, Tiny, and her rapper husband, T.I., it’s really refreshing to finally be able to bring y’all some good news about them.

The Tragedy

Turns out, Tiny has herself a hubby who she can proudly brag about being a very loyal friend to his homies. Many of you may recall when T.I.’s childhood friend/assistant, Philant Johnson, was tragically shot to death in 2006. The tragedy happened after T.I. and his crew immediately left an Atlanta nightclub, following an argument with some dudes in attendance of T.I.’s concert there. The guys followed T.I.’s tour bus, sprayed it with bullets and unfortunately, Philant was hit and died from his bullet wounds. T.I. ended up testifying at the trial of Philant’s murderer and this is what was reported about it…

Via MTV: During his testimony, T.I. described the chaotic scene inside the club that night and his difficulty in telling Johnson’s then 5-year-old daughter that her father had passed, explaining that he apologized to Johnson’s mother, “because I felt that all those rounds were fired for me.”

Philant Johnson’s murderer received 66 years to life in prison.

At that time, T.I. vowed to take care of Philant’s then 5 year old daughter. Fast forward to today and Tip is doing just that.

The Beautiful Gift T.I. Bought Deceased Friend’s Daughter

In a touching video T.I. posted on Instagram, he surprised Philant’s daughter with a brand new car and wrote this message in honor of his friend, Philant, whom he calls Phil:

Making straight As & maintaining a 3.8 GPA all the way through school,staying away from all the things we were eyeball deep into when we was her age,& doing any & everything that’s EVER been asked of her since you left. How can we not make sure she rides cool & in comfort her senior year? We miss you more than we can express… but we’ll fill in for you in every way we can until it’s all said & done. Tip also posted this video of himself following his car surprise up with a brief “father-like” talk with Philant’s daughter about her upcoming prom date at the end of this school year (she graduates high school in 2018)…

Just like the Old School saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” We commend T.I. for stepping up to the plate in the absence of his best friend and staying true to his word to help guide Philant’s daughter to the best of his abilities.
