After many years of having a very strained and basically non-existent relationship with his 25 year old son, actor/singer Quincy, Al. B. Sure has just gotten a surprise from Quincy that is totally unexpected.

In case you’re not too familiar with Quincy, he’s been building a name for himself as a singer and an actor for the past few years and also stars in Lee Daniels’ new hit series, Star.

For Quincy’s new album, titled “This is For You,” he said he surprised his dad by including a remake of his 1988 hit, “Night and Day” on it. To understand why this is beyond a big deal, you have to understand where Al. B. and Quincy’s relationship was for most of his life…

Sean “P. Diddy” Combs with his adopted son/Al B. Sure’s biological son, Quincy

Quincy is the adopted son of music mogul/Bad Boy founder, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, whom he views as his actual dad. Al B. is Quincy’s biological Pops, but Diddy has been raising Quincy since he was about three years old. There’s a LOT more turmoil and redemption to their story though and we’ll get into that in a minute, but first check out Quincy’s new single featuring Al B. Sure, “I Can Tell You” Official Music (Night And Day 2.0):

QUINCY ON SURPRISING AL. B. WITH SONG

Via Billboard: “Me and my dad, our communication level started to increase,” says Quincy, referring to his previous estrangement with Sure, and their eventual reconciliation. “I kind of surprised him with [the remake]. I didn’t talk to him about it like ‘This is what I wanna do.’ I just wanted to put my all into it and almost surprised him with it — like ‘Hey, let’s hang out. Let’s go in the studio, I want you to hear some stuff. It almost came as a surprise,” says Quincy, “so I got to experience a fun, crazy, emotional moment just because he didn’t even know what he was walking into.”
