Wow! ‘Juice’ Cast Reunites For Film’s 25th Anniversary, Check Them Out Now

Posted On : June 11, 2017

Time really does fly! For those who don’t know, June 9, 2017, marked the 25th anniversary of the release of Juice. To commemorate the anniversary, the classic 90s film, which starred Tupac Shakur, Omar Epps, Khalil Kain, and Jermaine Hopkins, has been re-released in the form of a special 25th Anniversary Blue-ray DVD.

Celebrating A Milestone:

According to EURWeb, the cast gathered at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood, CA to celebrate the momentous occasion. During a brief interview, Juice director Ernest Dickerson shared memories about the film prior to the 25th-anniversary screening. Actors Khalil Kain and Jermaine Hopkins joined Dickerson as he discussed the film, the cast and Tupac Shakur. Hopkins admitted he and the guys had bonded prior to filming which made their onscreen chemistry even better. Dickerson also revealed he’d taken the guys out to eat during the casting process and by the time they were ready to film, they had no problems making magic when the cameras were rolling.

Dickerson was also asked what it was like to work with Tupac. He revealed Tupac spent lots of time writing in between filming. “A lot of times in between set-ups, sometimes he (Pac) would go off in a corner with a notebook and write. I’d like to think he was writing music that he would be coming out with later.”

The 25th Anniversary Edition:

It has been reported that the re-released DVD features more than an hour of rare, behind-the-scenes footage from the film. The DVD also includes an alternate ending that captures the death of Tupac Shakur’s character. In the clip, Dickerson offers commentary to walk viewers through the jaw-dropping rooftop scene.

Here’s the clip of the alternate ending:

As expected, Dickerson and the guys were asked about the possibility of a sequel or remake of the cult classic. Unlike many stars who ponder the idea of remaking a classic or producing a continuation, all of the guys agreed the original is forever. Nothing else could make Juice greater than it already is.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
