Kofi Siriboe Is Off The Market:

It’s with much regret that we inform the ladies that the brotha, who played Jada Pinkett-Smith’s years younger ‘boy toy’ in Girl’s Trip, is off the market. On Women’s International Day, actor, Kofi Siriboe sent an affectionate message to supermodel, Duckie Thot, affirming that they are in a relationship. Siriboe messaged the following to Duckie Thot:

my love, you blossom like the flowers do; you keep growing. i love watching you. you remind me of sunrise every morning—just a glance in your direction transmutes the darkest day to light. no man should be lucky enough to love you. all queens, everywhere, happy #internationalwomensday

While Kofi has never been shy about his love for Black women, he’s pretty private about his dating life. However, his public displays of affection for Duckie has cemented the fact that they’re together. Back in September, he posted several photos of Duckie, stating that she was so beautiful that she’s edible.

In case you’re wondering who Duckie Thot is, she’s a beautiful Australian supermodel of Sudanese decent, who first scored attention when she auditioned on Australian’s Next Top Model. With her gorgeous deep dark skin and slender build, she’s often seen rockin’ long weaved tresses, as she has publicly spoken out about her struggles with natural hair and modeling. Displaying her vulnerable side, Duckie revealed that wearing her natural hair in the modeling world is difficult because not all stylists are able to style natural hair. Because of her past experiences, Duckie was hesitant to model for a campaign that asked her to rock her natural hair. While she didn’t have to deal with unprofessionalism and cruelty on the set, Duckie clapped back when a former Top Model alum, Winnie Harlow, mocked her ponytail on social media. The comment has since been deleted, but Harlow posted a picture of Duckie poking fun at her natural hair with the comment: “LMFAO! WHAT ARE THOOOOOSEEEEE cauliflower a$$ head.” Duckie responded to Harlow’s comment with the following:

“I remember shooting this Dinosaur Design campaign just before coming out here to the states. They called my agent at the time and asked if I was comfortable to shoot a campaign with my natural hair. She already knew what I was thinking but told me I needed to compromise sometimes. I won’t lie, I was extremely hesitant. I’ve never really had a good experience with my natural hair and modelling in Australia before. I remember on top model on one of the episodes I had to cornrow my own hair. I was extremely upset and embarrassed that they “didn’t know how” to cornrow my natural hair when at the end of the day that’s their job. I sat in front of the mirror silently crying before my shoot doing my own hair, cameras rolling while all the other girls had hairstylists, shit scared I was going to get eliminated because a few “hairstylists” didn’t know how to do their job. It’s not fun being bullied for something you can’t control and to have a top model woman of colour who I thought encouraged acceptance and self love call me out for rocking my natural hair, isn’t cool at all. Throw all the shade you want, but you played yourself with your cute little remark.”

Duckie’s comment received over 26,000 likes and many women of color identified with Duckie’s struggles with styling natural hair. The melanin goddess spoke with Teen Vogue about the lack of education Black women face because they often haven’t been taught to take care of they’re hair.

“Being a black woman, we haven’t really been taught how to take care of our natural hair — we’ve only been taught how to hide it. I think hair companies, the media, hairstylists, and the industry itself are to blame. They haven’t made the same efforts to ensure black women are looked after in their most natural form. If you really think about it, it’s the black women on YouTube who have really held it down with their natural hair tutorials. I think [the industry] should really take ownership and start to invest into us.”

Despite what the haters may have stated about Duckie’s natural hair, her modeling career has not been affected because this beautiful Black queen is sitting proudly on her throne. Her modeling dreams have come true, she scored modeling jobs with Refinery 29W Magazine and Kanye West. Most notably, she has worked with superstar, Rihanna, for a shoot with Paper Magazine and she is a model for Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty. It’s no surprise that beauty runs in Duckie’s family. Her sister, Nikki Perkins, is a popular Youtube star/beauty guru. For Duckie, growing up in Australia, she didn’t have many women of color to look up to as examples of beauty in the modeling industry. Duckie hopes to serve as an inspiration for other little girls of color who aspire to be models.

I miss you already @duckieofficial can’t wait to come see you in New York!

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
