Colin Kaepernick Speaks Out After Claims He Gave Travis Scott ‘His Blessing’ To Perform At The Super Bowl
In 2016, NFL player Colin Kaepernick began to sit during the playing of the U.S. national anthem. He then began to kneel during the anthem instead. The reason? To highlight police brutality against ethnic minorities and systematic racism in America.
Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since 2017, and is currently suing the organization for not hiring him because of his protests. Many celebrities, fans and artists have supported the 31-year-old and have boycotted the NFL. This also covers the Super Bowl half-time show where musicians have performed for over 50 years.
This year, Maroon 5 are scheduled to perform, alongside rapper Travis Scott and Outkast’s Big Boi. Many have questioned why the acts have chosen to perform. But Scott has faced the most backlash. Many believe being a black man he should support Kapernick’s protest.
It was claimed by entertainment outlet Variety that Kaepernick spoke to Travis Scott over the phone, with Kaepernick giving him his blessing.
