Jennifer Lopez Defends Her Motown Tribute, Revealing Why She Did It
When it was announced that Jennifer Lopez would be the headliner for the 2019 Grammy Awards tribute to Motown, fans everywhere were outraged. Now, we all know J-Lo is talented in her own right but old school Motown fans just didn’t think she fit the bill for such a soulful tribute. In fact, most fans urged Jennifer “to stay in her lane.” However, that didn’t stop her from takin’ the stage last night. With Smokey Robinson’s blessing J-Lo performed a medley of some of Motown’s greatest hits including Michael Jackson’s “Dancing Machine” and The Marvelettes’ “Please, Mr. Postman.” She was also joined onstage by Alicia Keys, NeYo, and Smokey Robinson, himself. While most fans didn’t have a problem with Alicia Keys or NeYo being part of the performance, they didn’t think Jennifer Lopez should have been the headliner.
Now, she’s speakin’ out about the performance and she has a fierce message for everyone who thinks she didn’t deserve to be on that stage.
