After Many Black Artists Reject SuperBowl Offer, Gladys Explains Why She’s Performing
Who would’ve thought we’d be discussing soul icon, Gladys Knight, in the midst of the ever-so-intense upcoming Super Bowl debate? But yet, here we are…and for a good reason, or at least a thought provoking one.
In case y’all haven’t heard, today it was announced that the “Midnight Train To Georgia” singer confirmed that she will be in her hometown of Atlanta, GA, gracing the Superbowl LIII viewers with a soulful rendition of the deeply controversial National Anthem. This has sparked much social media chatter. It’s especially done so, after several African American artists turned down the Super Bowl LII offers to stand up against the NFL’s racial blackballing of ousted quarterback Colin Kapernick, for simply peacefully protesting against unjust murders and police brutality of Peole of color in America.
