Now, speaking of the “1 Thing”singer, Ameriie Mi Marie Rogers, just announced to the world that she and her husband of nearly 7 years, Lenny Nicholson, welcomed their first child. Their baby is 1 month old, but Ameriie didn’t let her fans know she’d given birth until now. Meet their little mini-me, River Rowe below…

In a touching online tribute to their blessing, Ameriie wrote:

The Unfortunate Past Drama

Ameriie married Lenny, a former Columbia Records executive, in July 2011 in a destination ceremony in Anguilla. Unfortunately their marital bliss didn’t come without some slight drama.

In 2016, when Beyonce released her hit, “Lemonade, in which she sang about Jay Z cheating on her with a “Becky with the good hair,” many fans assumed she was referring to Ameriie, given their past artistic rivalry. After the annoying rumor wouldn’t die, Ameriie was forced to address the matter in a ‘Breakfast Club’ interview:

“Really? I never, ever heard that,” said Amerie.

She then was asked if she thought Beyonce’ copied her style, by hiring Amerie’s producer and then releasing several songs that were reminiscent of Amerie’s live band feel at that time:

“No, I wouldn’t say that. A lot of people are going to say different things, but it’s like what I was saying — artists, we’re all in dialogue with each other. We’re not on an island…We were on the same label but I don’t think that did anything. I know, Jay [Jay Z] really liked my album,” Amerie stated.

Another rumor that plagued Ameriie and Lenny’s marriage, was that Lenny was the reason she “fell off” in the music game. You see, in case y’all haven’t noticed, Ameriie has been out of the spotlight for quite a while. Soon after her “1 Thing” hit, which was the peak of her career, she somewhat disappeared. So, Ameriie also touched on this topic as well, explaining that label changes and such was the reason behind her disappearance from the spotlight, not her husband:

“Going from label to label, that’s part of it. It always took so long…For me, I would record an album and by the time we’re ready to put it out …I was like I’m on to the next thing. …He’s [Lenny] actually very supportive…Actually, he helped a lot of things. ‘One Thing’ really came from his involvement.”

These days, Ameriie couldn’t care less about “Becky” rumors, nor Beyonce’ jackin’ her “1 Thing” and “Why Don’t We Fall In Love” sound (for Bey’s “Crazy In Love” song). She’s too happy to be bothered and too blessed to be stressed over the nonsense. Congratulations to her and Lenny on their precious baby boy!
