PINE HILL, NEW JERSEY — One young man thought to take it “old school” while trying to concoct the perfect prom proposal. And Boyz II Men was definitely ready to help out.

According to ABC-13, a South Jersey teen — Jalen Doggett — thought of he’d get a little help pulling off the surprise of the school year for his girlfriend. For their “promposal,” he turned to Boyz II Men.

But how did this young man have such a hook up?…

The source says the promposal happened at Overbrook High School. Doggett was looking for the perfect way to surprise his girlfriend, Anjeliah Chido. He remembered that she absolutely loves Boyz II Men.

“I was shocked and surprised. I started tearing up. I was like, ‘There’s no way!’” Anjeliah mentions.

Boyz II Men original member, Nathan Morris, has stepped into a new career field that ain’t nothing like the glitz and glam of the music game he’s been in for the past few decades. Apparently, the brotha has a hidden talent that most BIIM fans never knew existed and he’ll now be showcasing his non-musical talents on a new DIY Network series called, “Hit Properties with Nathan Morris.”

If you guessed that Nathan has skills with a drill and electric saw, you are correct. He has officially added the title of, ‘carpenter,’ to his résumé.

His new TV show will be airing on October 6, 2018 and it will be a 4-part series in which Nathan will be transforming properties from lemons to lemonade – so to speak.

Nathan explained that his other business dealings as a real estate investor, are what led him to becoming handy with the hammers and nails:

“On the business side, I’ve invested in some lucrative real estate deals, and, on the personal side, I’ve done some construction, renovating and designing. But I’ve never brought the two together in one project. This was my chance to do that—on a massive scale” said Nathan.

The DIY network offered a detailed picture of some of the challenges we’ll be seeing Nathan and his construction team tackling throughout their mission of turning damaged homes into million dollar masterpieces:

Why Pop Fans Mad?

Lil’ Dicky is a White rapper, known for doing comical songs that cater to the pop music audience. His latest single, “Freaky Friday,” features Chris Brown and is actually kinda clever.  The concept of the song/video (above, contains graphic language), is that Lil’ Dicky wishes he more like a ‘cool, Black music artist, such as Brown,’ and he gets granted his wish, to swap identities with Brown for a day.

Pop fans are now pissed because they don’t think Dicky should’ve worked with Brown, due to Brown’s 2009 domestic violence fight with his then girlfriend, Rihanna. That’s where Shawn Stockman comes in…

Shawn Stockman Defend Chris

The Boyz II Men crooner says fans need to move forward, like Chris Brown (28) has done ever since making that horrible decision at age 19. When Shawn Stockman was asked, his thoughts on the video backlash and if he thought it was time for folks to forgive Brown, he replied:

“Yeah, I want people to stop. … Everybody’s got their gavels now, everybody loves to judge, everybody loves to…throw stones. And it’s the craziest sh*t to me, and I think people should STOP it. Chris is trying to do what he’s trying to do. … He’s trying to live better, raise his daughter and…c’mon, there have been people that’s done hella, hella worse, that people have forgiven. Chris Brown Gives Surprising Details About Fight w/Rihanna

As we previously reported, Brown’s recent Netflix documentary, “Chris Brown: Welcome To My Life,” was an eye opener. The world got to see Chris in a whole new light, as he discussed previously unknown details of what really went down the night he brutally beat Rihanna and ended up in jail. Turns out, although Brown did an extremely horrific thing that no man should EVER do, he’s now displayed a new level of maturity and character many didn’t know he had.
Brown Made No Excuses
In the documentary, Chris didn’t try to paint a pretty picture of what happened in the car fight that night. He admitted he punched Rihanna with a closed fist, left a knot on her head, and busted her lip. In detailing how that all transpired, he also revealed that because he ‘loved and still loves’ Rihanna, he wanted to “protect her” for the part she played in their fight.

It started after Rihanna went into a jealous rage, thinking Chris was still messing around with his former employee. In order to prove he was not, Chris volunteered to let Rihanna go through his phone and check a text message from the woman. Although there was no indication they had anything going on anymore, Rihanna didn’t believe him. So, as Chris was driving them home from the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party, Rihanna started punching, kicking, and scratching him in the face and head first.

Brown was yelling at her, to get her to stop. As he was still driving, he said Rihanna then grabbed his testicles really hard and wouldn’t let go. That’s when he flipped out and punched her in the face. She then threw his phone out of the window, he then pulled over and they were crying, arguing, and trading blows by then. Then Chris says he just stopped and was crying, telling her he didn’t want to do that to her anymore. He gave her the keys, said he would walk home, and told her to drive herself back home. As he was getting his bag out of the trunk and preparing to walk off, she started screaming ‘Help, he’s trying to kill me!’ out of the window and he couldn’t believe it.

Why He Never Revealed This?
Chris says he never came forward with this info until now, because he knows he was also wrong and never wanted to blame Rihanna, nor hurt her reputation. So he immediately pled guilty and never brought it up in court to try to get lesser punishment. He spent 90 days in the ‘hole’ in prison, and didn’t get off probation until 2013. Now it explains why Rihanna eventually pushed for him to get lesser punishment- because she too played a part in it.

What Does Boyz II Men’s Music Have To Do w/This? A Lot According To Atty

Atty. Tacopina:: It was an enormously grave mischaracter of justice. A really despicable version of what the justice system is supposed to be. […] Both the probation officer and the district attorney recommended no incarceration for these violations. No incarceration. But this judge excoriated both of them, challenged their credibility and overrode both law enforcement agencies recommendations and went from zero to two to four years, which shows that she clearly had a personal vendetta against this guy [Mill].

But when you look at all the other facts, like a judge crossing the line of professionalism and traditional conduct, [who] will make the request that Meek Mill re-record a famous Philadelphia pop band, Boyz II Men’s song “On Bended Knee,” where he concludes with a tribute to her and mentions her by name in the song. And he, of course, was laughing and thought it was a joke, she said, “I’m serious.” He refused to do that.

Tacopina: So, that, right there, was a totally an inappropriate request. When she requests he leaves his current management Roc Nation — which is one of the most important management companies in the world — and goes back to a local Philadelphia guy who has a spotted past because she had a personal relationship with him as manager, again, she’s doing something that a judge would never be doing, having a personal interest.

What the HELL?!! Tacopina is an attorney and knows the ramifications of lying on an official, so he’s probably telling the truth about what Meek Mill experienced with the judge. If that is the case, Meek Mill’s sentencing needs to be thrown out. That is just FOUL!

It’s a statistically proven fact that Black people get, on average, triple the prison time for the same and/or oftentimes less harsher crimes as their White counterparts. It’s also evident that when Blacks are released from prison, after serving their time, the vague probation system is set up for them to easily slip and be returned to prison for something that otherwise would be harmless- such as riding a quad bike down a street. The thing is that America benefits from the free labor of Black prisoners (and other persons of color). America also benefits from the ability to keep African Americans out of society and away from their children. That way, the goal is that there will be a continued evolution of broken Black families, producing broken kids, with a higher possibility of following in the paths of their incarcerated parent’s footsteps. America’s Got Talent TV show, got a great blessing by way of the late Dr. Brandon Rogers. Some of you may remember when we first covered young singing doctor on ILoveOldSchoolMusic, after the video went viral of him singing a Boyz II Men song a while back. He SANG that song like nobody’s business, and it didn’t go unnoticed by Boyz II Men, who later invited the doctor to perform with them in Las Vegas for a few shows in late 2016. Sadly, as we previously reported, last month (June 2017) Rob was killed at the young age of 29 in a car accident, after his friend fell asleep behind the wheel. Rob was riding in the passenger seat, along with two other passengers in the back, but he was the only one who died from his injuries.

Dr. Rogers Was Excited About Upcoming AGT Performance

At the time of his death, he’d been posting online about his excitement for being a contestant on the new season (which had not yet aired) of America’s Got Talent. It was widely reported that Brandon was becoming a standout star of the show (swipe left below)…

On Tuesday, July 11 2017, about one month after Brandon died, America’s Got Talent, in a very touching moment, posted a statement on the screen, just before airing Dr. Roger’s incredible performance:

“At the request of his family we would like to honor his memory by sharing his audition with you.” -NBC

In his audition, Brandon sang Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon In The Sky” and got a standing ovation. Also just before he sang, Brandon explained to the judges- Simon Cowell, Mel B., Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel- what made him enter the field of medicine:

Dr. Brandon Rogers to AGT judges: “My inspiration for becoming a doctor was kind of born out of a pretty tough experience when I was six years old when I came home from school one day and found my mom laying in a pool of blood. We rushed her to the hospital, the doctors were like heroes. They saved her life and it made me want to be the doctor that I am today. … I feel like I’m in a field where I’m actually making a difference, and there can be some tough days too. My way to cope with the stress has always been music. If I could find a way to combine being a doctor and medicine with music and singing that would be a dream come true.“

Rogers said performing with Boyz II Men was one of the greatest moments of his entire life and he recently went on to audition for America’s Got Talent.

How Dr. Brandon Rogers Died

Sadly, before his AGT episode got to air, Dr. Rogers died on June 11, 2017 from injuries sustained from a single car accident that took place Saturday morning. He was riding in the front passenger seat of a vehicle with two other passengers and the driver, when the car veered off of the road and into a tree. The driver was unharmed and the other two passengers are hospitalized. A 911 call was placed around 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning reporting the accident. At this point, authorities are still investigating what caused the accident, but have reported there were no drugs, nor alcohol involved.

America’s Got Talent producers are now trying to decide if they’ll still keep Dr. Rogers’ episode within the upcoming scheduled programming. Here’s what Rogers recently posted on Instagram about his AGT audition…

This is beyond sad. That young brotha had his entire life ahead of him. It’s not necessarily meant for any of us to understand why some have to leave this earth much sooner than others, but it’s certainly a reminder of why we need to love on our loved ones everyday and give them their roses while we’re all still here. Dr. Brandon Rogers will be sorely missed and our deepest condolences go out to his Mother, Father, siblings, and the rest of his loved ones at this time.
