Speculation and public outrage have been rampant, and understandably so– after Diddy released his video apology the other day, only for viewers to realize he never mentioned who exactly he was apologizing to. Why? Because not once did he mention Cassie’s name. Fast forward to today, and it’s now been revealed that there is a legal reason preventing Diddy from mentioning Cassie’s name in his apology.

Following Cassie’s sexual assault lawsuit against Diddy, the two parties reached a settlement, which included a strict non-disclosure agreement (NDA). This NDA forbids both Diddy and Cassie from discussing each other in public. That’s right, folks, their lips are sealed.

According to TMZ, Diddy’s legal team carefully examined every aspect of the video apology before it’s release. Compliance with the NDA was their top priority, meaning there could be no reference to Cassie, even though Diddy reportedly wanted to mention her name. It’s a tricky situation for him, as he walks a tightrope between expressing remorse and avoiding any potential legal ramifications.

It’s worth noting that Cassie’s silence since the release of the 2016 beating video is also a result of this settlement. Despite expectations that she might publicly air her grievances, Cassie has remained tight-lipped, honoring the terms of the agreement.

Diddy has broken his silence and issued a heartfelt apology after a video resurfaced showing him physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. The video (below), which was dated March 5, 2016, depicts a disgusting scene where Diddy can be seen grabbing, shoving, dragging, and kicking Cassie inside a hallway of the now-closed Intercontinental Hotel in Central City, L.A..

On Sunday morning, Diddy had what some would call a “come-to-Jesus-moment” when he took to Instagram to share a video message, expressing his remorse:

“I’m truly sorry,” the somber 54-year-old captioned the video. “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f****d up — I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses.”

In the video, Diddy acknowledges the gravity of his actions and takes full responsibility:

“My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” he confesses.

Diddy also reveals that he sought professional help and underwent therapy and rehabilitation to address his behavior.

Ending his apology with a plea for mercy and a commitment to personal growth, Diddy shared:

According to TMZ, sources with direct knowledge of the matter say Cassie is among the witnesses that the authorities have been in contact with regarding the Diddy investigation. It is believed that Cassie has been working closely with investigators for several weeks, even before law enforcement raided Diddy’s residences.

The timing of Cassie’s cooperation suggests that she may have played a significant role in establishing probable cause for the search warrants that were executed. Other women who have filed lawsuits against Diddy are also said to have been in contact with federal investigators.

Although the details of Cassie’s conversations with the authorities remain undisclosed, it is likely that her statements align with the allegations she made in her lawsuit against Diddy. In the lawsuit, she accused him of various acts, including forcing her to engage in sexual activities with multiple male prostitutes, rape, physical abuse, and providing her with drugs and alcohol throughout their relationship.
