According to new court documents, both Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa have agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their kids. It’s refreshing to see how swiftly Lisa and Jason have resolved their differences. Their willingness to ensure the best for their children and avoid prolonged legal battles deserves a handclap and old school fist bump.

The divorce between Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa came as a surprise to many, as the couple had publicly announced their split back in 2022. In their statement at the time, they emphasized their mutual respect and the love they had for each other, even as their romantic relationship changed.

In a not-so-surprising turn of events, Lisa Bonet (56) has officially filed for divorce from her 44-year-old actor-husband. This comes almost exactly two years after the couple announced their breakup (hence, our non-surprise), leaving fans wondering about the status of their relationship.

According to new court documents, Bonet is seeking joint physical and legal custody of she and soon-to-be ex-husband, Jason Momoa’s two children, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf, who are now 16 and 15 years old, respectively. What’s interesting is that Bonet listed the date of separation as October 7, 2020, which is a year and a half before they made the announcement that they were no longer together.

Bonet and Momoa’s love story began in 2005, and after more than a decade of dating, they secretly tied the knot in October 2017. However, in January 2022, the couple shared on Instagram that they were going through a “transformational” time in their lives and were parting ways in marriage. Despite the separation, they made it clear that their love for each other continued.

Now, Bonet is taking the step to officially axe their marriage. Despite the divorce, Bonet and Momoa insist on maintaining a strong co-parenting relationship and prioritize the well-being of their kids.

As y’all know, this isn’t Bonet’s first time ’round the block in the divorce arena. She was previously married to rock legend, Lenny Kravitz, with whom she shares their actress-daughter Zoë Kravitz. As for Momoa, the “Aquaman” star has reportedly been back in the dating field, following his split from Lisa.

While fans may have hoped for a reconciliation between Bonet and Momoa, Jason clarified, in a prior interview with “Access Hollywood,” that they are not getting back together. He emphasized that they are family and will be there for each other for the long haul, especially for the sake of their beautiful children.

“Cosby Show” and “It’s A Different World” actress legend, Lisa Bonet, has just hit their fans hard with the news that she and her hubby, Jason Momoa, are saying ‘Peace out’ to one another, after their 16-year relationship. This news was unexpected because for years, they’ve been looking like the happiest, most loving couple ever…and fans were always rooting for them.

But unfortunately folks, it looks like Lisa and Jason won’t be taking their marital status to Ossie Davie-and-Ruby Dee levels.

They’ve just released a joint statement online, confessing that they are “parting ways in marriage.”

Although they didn’t get too specific, they did state that their reasoning for the split is because they “felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times” … and are “feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.”

Seems like their “transformative times” wording could possibly translate into, ‘once the pandemic hit, we drove each other crazy having to spend so much time together under one roof for so long…and we learned a lot more about how much we love each other, but don’t necessarily like each other’s views, quirks, societal stances, and so on.’ However, don’t quote us on that.

The reason they said they’ve decided to break this news publicly is because they wanna move forward in life with “dignity and honesty” … and are therefore breaking free from each other in order to “be who we are learning to become.”

Although the proud parents are splitting up, they wanted to make to clear to fans that their love remains rock solid….but that they’re just not into the marriage thing anymore…at least not to each other.

Shortly before the COVID pandemic hit the U.S., the “Game of Thrones” star shared a rare photo of Lisa Bonet on his Instagram page. In it, she’s seen gazing off camera at him, with a slight grin and adoring eyes, as if she was just checkin’ him out on their first date, for the first time. Jason’s captioned his photo with:

But sadly, their union is coming to an end.

The two began dating in 2005, and married in 2017. They share two daughters — Lola Iolani Momoa and Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. Lisa also shares daughter, actress Zoe Kravitz, with her ex-husband/rock star, Lenny Kravitz.

Cosby Show/Different World legend, Lisa Bonet (49) may be a hella secretive celebrity, but there are a few rare moments where she steps from behind her shroud of secrecy. Primarily those moments either involve her three children, her man, or her work. This particular rare sighting was for her man/actor Jason Mamoa.

Lisa and Jason have been going strong ever since 2005, when they first began dating. Eleven years her junior, Jason married Lisa in 2007 and this year (2017) marks their 10-year wedding anniversary. Along the way, they had two babies- Lola Iolani Momoa, now 10, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa, now 8- whom also live life away from the cameras. Lisa’s eldest child (with her ex-husband/rock OG, Lenny Kravitz), Zoe’ Kravitz, prefers to live her life publicly as a model and actress.

Lisa’s Surprise For Hubby

On Wednesday (Aug. 3, 2017) Lisa Bonet, Lola, and Nakoa decided to give Jason Mamoa the surprise of his life for his 39th birthday (which was actually on Aug. 2nd). In case you haven’t yet seen the many promotional trailers and movie posters lately, Jason is playing the character, “Aquaman,” in the highly anticipated fantasy/sci-fi film, Justice League, which will hit theaters on November 17th. As a spin-off of that film, Jason is currently filming the 2018 movie, Aquaman, in which he is the star as his character, “Aquaman.”

Since he was filming away on set in Queensland, Australia, Lisa and their two kids surprised Jason, by popping up on the Aquaman set, with a few of his friends. Jason was so surprised that his reclusive wife did such a thing, that he posted it on Instagram and captioned the photo of them, his kids, and his friends with greetings and gratitude phrases in his native Hawaiian language:

“I have never been so surprised in my life,” Momoa wrote in his post. “38 is the greatest to date.I love u my loveee my babies my friends and OHANA to my cast and crew. Mahalo for caring. It was so beautiful. Mahalos to all the warriors It was an honor. #mindblown. #roots #connected #mytribe aloha j.”
