“I Wanna Know” singer, Joe, recently revealed that he and R. Kelly had some issues. The problem started during the height of Joe’s career and he said his then-Jive Records label mate, R. Kelly, allegedly tried to do him dirty. During an interview with Vlad TV, Joe went into detail about the plan Kellz was allegedly trying to pull off behind his back, which he says he found out from some very credible sources in the music industry…

Joe revealed, to Vlad TV, that some years ago, several P.D.s (radio program directors), were hittin’ him up letting him know that R. Kelly had told them if they did not stop playing Joe’s records, he wouldn’t perform at anymore of their radio station events. This was apparently during the days when R. Kelly was at the top of his career and had major clout in the industry. The thing that Joe says Kellz didn’t know, was that the P.D.s Kellz allegedly told those things to, were actually friends of Joe.

The mainstream music business is a competitive sport and at times a very cut throat, ‘dog eat dog’ type of industry. So although we don’t know if Kellz actually did, or did not try to block Joe’s career, it isn’t unheard of in the music game…unfortunately that’s just the way it is sometimes.

Joe later talked with the “Breakfast Club” also and when asked about where he and R. Kelly stand today, he said things were all good between them and that they’ve moved on from it. Joe said that he never approached Kellz about the situation though.

If you haven’t seen this video of Marvin Sapp and what he does with (sort of) Old School R&B singer from the 1990’s, check it out below. Although singer/songwriter Joe isn’t officially “Old School” his song “I Wanna Know” is definitely a 90s classic. You know the words,

“I wanna know what turns you on, So I can be all that and more. I’d like to know what makes you cry, So I can be the one who always makes you smile.” Gospel singer, Marvin Sapp caused an uproar when he sang an R&B song asking what turns a woman on (Joe’s “I Wanna Know”) at a small graduation party a few months ago. We all know that Marvin Sapp is still a man, but that didn’t fly over well with a lotta folks.

Why is it that we understand that R&B artists have a religious side, but they also have a romantic side? Why do we not accept that gospel artists, while they love their religion, also get in the mood for a lil’ affection, just like any other human being?
