Now, diving into the crux of it all, we’re looking at a gap of nearly two decades in age between them—an elephant in the room they’ve never shied away from addressing. “Me and my wife’s situation is a little different; how we met through mutual friends and everything like that,” he said. “When I met my wife, she was 17. So, we had no [real] conversation…no [real] connection until…you know…she was of age.”

He continued:

“People don’t understand it and I got a lot of backlash for marrying someone that was 19. And you know, when we did finally start to talk, I was like, ‘This woman is like me’ and she was just…when I would talk to her, she’d just. … For one…we had a spiritual connection and I feel like that’s the most important thing. We both love God. We both love Jehovah and that was key.”

Marques also said he didn’t want to date women his age because they come with a lot of ‘baggage.’

So, there you have it folks—a love story that’s been through the wringer of public opinion, but still standing. Back in 201, Chris Stokes posted up the couple on his Instagram page, praising their union. The young lady is best friends with Chris’ 20-year-old biological daughter Chrissy, and she’s just 19-years-old according to commenters.
