Marvin Gaye’s son has just apparently said he’s ‘got to give it up’ when it comes to his seemingly drama-filled marriage to wife, Wendy Gaye. Word on the Old school curb is that the R&B legend’s son trekked on down to the courthouse to file divorce papers, and this comes just two months after Marvin III was arrested for domestic violence.

Although Marvin and Wendy have been together for some years now (how many years isn’t clear, since Marvin listed their marriage date as TBD…whatever that means), it’s likely become quite clear to him that their once happy union has become too toxic for them both.

It was just back in January, when Wendy reportedly called the po-po’s on her hubby, claiming Marvin III laid hands on not only her, but her cousin as well, inside their Calabasas, CA home. According to Wendy’s DV filing at that time, she claimed Marvin III grabbed her by her neck, while simultaneously lifting her up off the ground. She also claimed that when her cousin stepped in to help her, Marvin supposedly physically attacked them both, and pointed a gun at them…says Wendy.

Needless to say, cops were called, but it wasn’t until the next day that Marvin III turned himself into police custody. He was hit with two charges– felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic violence. He ultimately was released after posting a $50K bond. It’s unclear where those charges stand today.

Fast forward to present-day, and Marvin III is ready to call it quits on his marriage. According to his divorce filing, Marvin simply listed “irreconcilable differences” as his reason for opting to divorce Wendy. He’s also reportedly requesting that the court block Wendy from receiving any future spousal support.

When it comes to further dividing up any profits he and his siblings, Nona and Frankie Gaye, have seen from their Pop’s post-humous earnings/royalties, it sounds like Marvin Gaye III ain’t having that.

Denise was said to be just 15 years old at the time of Marvin III’s birth in 1965, which means Marvin Gaye risked being jailed for statutory rape, had anyone found out back then.

According to court docs, Gaye III owes Deanna Holly $62,564.44 in back child support … and L.A. county stepped in to file a lien against that “Blurred Lines” judgment. The move ensures that when Marvin’s checks start coming in, he’ll have to fork over the owed dough to Holly.

Geesh! $62,546.00 is a LOT of money and if it’s true that Gaye III owes that much in child support, Deanna has every right to get her paper. I know Gaye III is his father’s child, but right about now it would be fitting for him to listen to another artist’s music…Johnnie Taylor’s “It’s Cheaper To Keep Her” is more appropriate for this situation, but then again, it’s a lil’ too late for that.

Now Marvin III has picked a new battle to fight and it’s against Empire co-creator and director, Lee Daniels. He’s trying to sue the pants off of anyone else involved in the shows creation too and here’s why:

Marvin Gaye‘s son is the latest guy to claim “Empire” was his brainchild … he’s about to sue over it, and remember, the guy’s got a good track record in court.

We’ve learned Marvin Gaye III claims he registered a treatment on a show called “Diamonds & Ballads” (aka “Those Sons of Riches!“) with the Writers Guild of America back in 2010.

Gaye says the treatment describes a family in the music business — “a music based ‘black’ and ‘hip’ version of ‘Dynasty’ … with a little ‘Sopranos.'”

We’re told Gaye shopped the treatment around to TV execs and said it was loosely based on the lives of his legendary family and the Berry Gordy family.

Gaye insists the people in the industry with whom Lee Daniel’s associates received emails pitching his treatment.

And Gaye feels Daniels unwittingly fessed up in 2014 after “Empire” hit big, when he said, “I wanted to make a black ‘Dynasty.'” He also said it was similar to “The Sopranos.”

Gaye’s lawyer tells TMZ he plans to file a lawsuit against Daniels, Fox and others. The lawyer tells TMZ, “We understand that three things can’t be hidden for long: the Sun, the Moon and the Truth!”
