We all know Mr. T as the gold jewelry rockin,’ African Mandinka hairstyle sportin,’ ‘I Pity The Fool’ “Clubber Lang” Rocky III, A-Team character, but we never really got to know him as the father of three.

He has two daughters and one son with his wife, Phyllis Clark, whom he has been married to since 1971. His 43 year old daughter, Erica Clark, spoke out a few years ago about what type of father her Pops is and why he doesn’t really talk to her, other than once or twice a year. For the record, it’s unclear if they’ve since mended their issues, but peep what Erica once stated below…

Why Daughter Says Mr. T Lessened His Communication With Her

Erica chose a line of work that her Dad apparently doesn’t approve. She’s making folks laugh as a comedian, after walking away from her teaching job of 10 years. That is what she says has driven the distance between she and her father, Mr. T. Here’s what Erica explained about that to NBC News:

“We talk maybe once or twice a year. We’re not super close since I moved out,” said Clark. “He wants me to be a nice teacher and get married and have kids. [My dad] doesn’t want me to do entertainment at all so he hasn’t come to any of my shows before but he’s aware that I do it.”

“I always wanted to be the center of attention,” said Clark. “It’s weird, I don’t think most people know this but my dad is pretty shy when he’s not on camera. I was never like that…to be honest with you, I just wanted to be famous.”

Although Erica and Mr. T. aren’t close anymore, we do give Erica her props for following her heart’s desire. At some point, all kids have to step outside of their parents’ shadows and go after what genuinely makes them happy. Erica has been building her name on the comedy circuit on her own and she says she refuses to be locked inside of the gender box that seems to only apply to female comics- to stay in realm of only talking about relationships. She talks about a wide range of funny topics, including the time she mistakenly sent a booty call sex-text message to her Dad, instead of to “Dave”…LOL:

“[I sent] probably the filthiest text message you could ever think of” to ‘Dad’ instead of ‘Dave.’ After realizing her 4 A.M. mistake Clark turned off her phone in fear. When she finally did pick up her father curtly asked how she was, neglecting to mention the text. They never spoke of it. The call was one of few they share each year.- via NBCNews

Then there was that time she says her Moms almost choked out her teacher at school:

Clark recounted the time her mother, Phyllis Clark, tried to strangle her teacher for claiming that Clark couldn’t keep up with the other students in her Lake Forest class. A good story, certainly one that embodied this year’s theme: conflict.

It’s good that Erica can find humor in some of the embarrassing moments in her life, but it’s unfortunate that she and her Pops don’t see eye-to-eye on her profession.

It’s understandable for any parent to want stability for their child, and Mr. T. knows first-hand just how flaky the entertainment game is. But on the other hand, it’s sometimes better to find a way to support the child, allowing them to succeed or fail on their own, as the parent stands by their side and offering words of wisdom from the sideline.

Mr. T Shares Grateful For Seeing Another Year After Overcoming Cancer Yrs. Ago

Thankfully, after battling and overcoming cancer some years ago, he is continuing to win with each passing day as he remains cancer-free and with each birthday he’s blessed to make. Sunday, May 21, 2017 marked Mr. T.’s 65th b-day and he couldn’t be more grateful. He even expressed his gratitude on Twitter:

His New Business Move

Just because Mr. T. had a tough battle with cancer and is one year older now, he doesn’t want any of us to get it twisted, when it comes to his career, Mr. ‘I Pity The Fool’ is NOT playing games at all! We’ve already watched him cut a rug on Dancing With The Stars this season (he was eliminated on April 10th and finished in 10th place). But now…

Fast forward to today and we are now able to ride with him in our cars. It’s just been announced that Mr. T.’s voice is available on the popular navigation mobile app, Waze. He joined the ranks of other celebs who have loaned their distinctive voices to the app, including Morgan Freeman and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mr. T’s latest business move is a good look for him. Let’s be real, having Mr.T. navigate us through the streets, while blurting out things like ‘Turn left on Main St. FOOL!’ will be priceless…just saying. Wishing Mr. T. many more birthdays and lucrative business opportunities to come.

Well, that was then and this is now, and today Mr. T. has a new gig that’s a far cry from the bad brotha persona from the past. He’s now dancing…that’s right, ‘Clubber Lang’ is putting down the gloves and putting on the sequence suits and shiny shoes for a good cause. He’s joined Dancing With The Stars this season to hopefully win money for the charity he stands behind, St. Jude’s Hospital, which is a children’s hospital dedicated to helping kids with illnesses, primarily cancer, get healed and live healthy lives.

Mr. T. admitted that he can’t dance a lick, but he’s gonna be out there trying his hardest to two-step and cut a rug for those kids.

He even promised to shave off his signature mohawk if he wins.

I never saw Mr. T. as the dancing type, so this should be interesting to watch.

In case you haven’t heard, Mr. T. is a cancer survivor. He battled the disease and won the battle after he was diagnosed with T-Cell lymphoma in 1995. So his DWTS cause hits close to home for him.

Another thing many may not know about Mr. T. is that he’s a devout Christian who is known for helping others behind the scenes. In 2005 he decided to stop wearing the many gold chains around his neck that he became known for. His reason had everything to do with seeing so many people in New Orleans, La. lose everything in Hurricane Katrina, which is where he went to help out with the cleanup efforts at that time:

Mr. T: “As a Christian, when I saw other people lose their lives and lose their land and property … I felt that it would be a sin before God for me to continue wearing my gold. I felt it would be insensitive and disrespectful to the people who lost everything, so I stopped wearing my gold.” -via Sky News

Gotta luv this dude. Mr. T. is a big guy but his heart is even bigger. Hopefully he’ll get the ‘W’ at the end of his Dancing With The Stars stint.

The man claiming to be Mr. T’s son, Alexander Taylor, filed a lawsuit against Mr. T. in 2013 because he claims that it is T.’s fault that he ended up gangbangin’ and living a life of crime. Why is that? Because he says that Mr. T. abandoned him when he was a youngin, leaving him high and dry and having to learn to be a man all on his own. Check out the details of Taylor’s lawsuit via RadarOnline:

According to the lawsuit, Taylor “was born May 25, 1988 to Vanessa Taylor (mother) and Mr. T (father)” and says “Mr. T had a responsibility and obligation as a father to help provide Alexander with the basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter.”

In fact, Taylor claims Mr. T chose to “neglect and abuse” him during his childhood.

“Perhaps things would be different if Alexander did not know his father; Mr. T spent quite a bit of time with Alexander for example Mr. T would take Alexander to preschool,” the docs read.

“At the time Alexander was unaware that his father was famous, he was just a proud little boy… Then all of a sudden Mr. T walked out of Alexander’s life and never looked back.”

Taylor claims Mr. T walked out of his life because “he did not fit into Mr. T’s public image.”

As a result, Taylor states that he had a hard time transitioning into adulthood and was suspended numerous times from school, sent to juvenile hall and eventually joined a gang.

The lawsuit actually brings up some good points about the effects of absentee parents, no matter how weird this ‘suit itself actually is.
Unfortunately for Alexander, the lawsuit was ultimately dropped in 2014 because he didn’t pay the $400 required for the filings and administrative fees to continue the legal process. No word on if he and Mr. T ever came to some other agreement, or if it was ever proven that he is T’s son.

If Alexander is ever successful in his legal journey against his alleged pappy, you’d be surprised at just how many people would be taking their deadbeat parent(s) to court for ‘parent support’ in the future. The lawsuits would probably be through the roof! We’ll keep y’all posted if this lawsuit ever sees the light of day again.
