We’re sending a big congratulations to singer, Musiq Soulchild, and his gorgeous Instagram model ex-girlfriend, Ashley Wright. To some, it may seem a little too soon for her to be his ex -given that they just had a baby the other day- but according to Ashley, their relationship had some turbulence, we’ll get to that in a minute.

Musiq’s ex, Ashley, has become widely known on social media for her yoga fitness, nude photos, inspirational quotes, and pole fitness pics with her 4 year old daughter balanced upside down with her and such.

After becoming pregnant with Musiq’s baby though, there came a time when Ashley leaned on her many followers for inspiration instead. She explained the joy and pain that has transpired with herself and Musiq. See their rocky road below…

The Joy

In April 2017, Ashley and Musiq started off in happy new couple bliss. They announced they were four months pregnant and seemed very excited about their lil’ bun in the oven.

The Heartbreaking Breakup While Pregnant

By May, Ashley posted a very emotional video on Instagram of her and her toddler daughter, moving back in with her parents. She alluded that Musiq had apparently broken up with her and sent her and her little girl on their merry way:

“I had met him, he woo’d me, we moved in together, we started a family (holds belly), and I would for the first time celebrate Mother’s Day with a companion by my side. I pictured holding hands, and belly rubs, me planning a cute meal of sorts (he isn’t the celebration type) and laughs at Shannon’s joyful, playful ways. … Yet here I am, at my parent’s house.

Her Sadness & Non-Excitement About Their Pregnancy

By September, Ashley was brutally honest on Instagram, regarding her non-excitement about her and Musiq Soulchild’s the unborn baby. It seemed that her heartbreak never completely subsided since their breakup:

mswrightsway: Someone asked me if I was excited? Excited about the baby. My response… “I’m Not.” As I continued with giving honor and acknowledgement to Life as a blessing, I followed with, “This process and circumstance I’m in is less than exciting and that I have yet to shift to a celebratory, excited space.” However, as I currently focus on complete surrender, acceptance and gratitude for the lessons that are here now, that are being served to me with a main course of TRUTH, I am ever reminded of WHO I AM. So in progression and preparation for this ceremony that we call Labor, in which I shall bring forth the God Seed that chose me, I am sitting in my Truth until it stops hurting.

Observing the feelings that come and go, working through triggers that disconnect me from presence, I say aloud, FAITH!! I say aloud, LOVE! I say aloud I CHOOSE JOY! And it is here that I remember what it is to bare my soul as I call out to my ancestors, as I shed all that doesn’t serve me, as I KEEP SPACE for what does, as I look forward to continuing to be a badass Wombyn and Mother!! Where They Are Now?

Not exactly sure where Musiq Soulchild and Ashley stand with their relationship, but it seems they will be co-parenting their baby. Ashley is known for sharing much of her personal life on social media, but ever since her breakup announcement in April, she hasn’t posted one photo of Musiq since. Musiq on the other hand, has never shared anything about Ashley online. The good thing is that Musiq was by Ashley’s side during the birth of their baby girl. Also, given how dedicated he is to his son with his ex/702 singer, Meelah Williams, Musiq has proven that no matter what, he’ll always be there for his children. From the looks of it, he plans on doing the same for his daughter, Satori. Wishing all of them the best.

No Regrets:

For quite some time now, soul singer,  Musiq Soulchild has been dating Ashley Wright- a popular life coach who’s famous for her blog page entitled, Ms. Wright’s Way. Not only is she known for her blog, but she’s also infamous for pole dancing with her toddler and breast feeding in public. She’s definitely a woman who “stays woke,” as she is socially conscious. Known for being active on social media, Wright is pretty open about her lifeas while, while her soon-to-be baby daddy, Musiq Soulchild, is pretty private.

Just recently, Wright posted to Instagram that she was in a committed relationship with Musiq and that he was her Man Crush Monday. So it was a huge surprise that shortly after praising Musiq on Instagram, it appears that the two are no longer together.

Wright posted a photo of herself and her 4 year-old daughter without Musiq in an Atlanta airport. She indicated that she was traveling back to Cali alone with no regrets. Wright lived in Atlanta with Musiq, but she’s now packed her bags and moved out.

On Mother’s Day, Wright shared video of herself, along with her daughter Shannon, accompanied by a heartwarming post where she celebrated the strengths of mothers who often do everything alone. Wright revealed that she was looking forward to spending Mother’s Day with Musiq. In the post, she discussed how much she loved him and how much she believed he loved her. Then, for reasons unknown, Wright described crying as she packed up her things and moved out all while trying to be there for her daughter .

Via Ashley Wright’s Facebook page: ‘Around 1 AM I woke up tossing and turning. For hours I was terribly uncomfortable; no matter what I did. I ate some peanuts. I drank some Kagen water. I added more pillows. I changed positions over and over. I scrolled social media and then I realized I hadn’t taken moments to breathe. I sat up, closed my eyes and took deep breaths…slow your breathing Ash.

In that meditation, I begin to acknowledge and accept a few things. I was triggered by Mothers Day. You see long are the days in which, holidays and their meanings have impacted me. Yet this Mother’s Day, this year… I was really looking forward to it. For it was a year, I had met him, he woo’d me, we moved in together, we started a family (holds belly), and I would for the first time celebrate Mother’s Day with a companion by my side.

I pictured holding hands, and belly rubs, me planning a cute meal of sorts (he isn’t the celebration type) and laughs at Shannon’s joyful, playful ways. Yet here I am, at my parent’s house, in a bed that gives me lower back pain, consistently shifting my mind as I courageously take on emotions and feelings that do not serve me.

I replayed how I had to pack up all of my belongings alone, and moments In which I cried on the stairs. Sometimes even in Shannons’s arms. Flashes of when I was exhausted beyond belief, barely eating, struggling to cater to Shannon…and at the airport having to maneuver SIX 50-70 lbs bags on a cart, while consistently demanding Shannon hold on to mommy as we made our way across the street. At the rental location… I cried in the car. Wiped my tears and then went to a boxing class.

Then I was reminded how when I arrived home, my mother spoke for hours in disbelief on how I was able to do all of that alone. She couldn’t stop saying, “Wow you are amazing! I don’t know how you moved all those bags pregnant and with Shannon.” I didn’t even look up at her, I responded, “I just had to figure it out. One thing for sure is if I never thought I was strong before, I know now I am. Not because it was a physical feat, but mentally. I couldn’t even cry. I didn’t have the space to. I just had to get it done.”

And then it hit me! Another lesson. You see mamas I spent so much time, looking forward to someone celebrating me, that I forgot for a moment that you have to celebrate yourself. And these last few weeks, I have had to ENCOURAGE myself. Im talking about morning chants, multiple phone calls to family and even writings on the mirrors. In looking back, I don’t care to focus on the hurt, but the fact that I pushed through despite the pain. So this here post is for us!

For the times you had 50 bags of groceries on your arms because you were “team one trip” to best watch your children and not leave them unattended for too long. For the times you carried in a sleep child on your shoulder and had to undress them carefully and lie them down on the bed. For the times you woke up early to get your child(ren) ready when going to bed late because you work late, studied late, cleaned up late. For the times you spent your last on shit for your children and went without so your children didn’t have to. For the times you wanted to cry and ball up in a corner, but did not or held off because you still had tend to your Child’s well being. And for all the times you did, every single day ALONE; whether in a relationship or not. Not looking for a thank you or a good job. Or knowing no companion was going to lie down with you to comfort you.

Could This Shocking Situation Be The Reason For Their Breakup?

Musiq’s and Ashley’s breakup is shocking because  it had appeared that Soulchild had finally found his soulmate in Ashley- they seemed to be perfect for each other. However, many people wondered if their relationship would last given how they met. Months before Wright announced her pregnancy with Soulchild, the singer posted a picture of himself along side Brother Polight. Brother Polight is a public figure and celebrity mentor who is an advocate for polygamist relationships. Before Wright dated Soulchild, she was allegedly Polight’s fourth wife. Hold up…REWIND! Yep, you read that right, allegedly she was wifey number four. However, she broke off that relationship to be with Musiq.

It was all good just weeks ago, so whatever the issues Musiq and Ashley are having, we sincerely hope they can patch things up. We were rooting for them.

On Sunday, April 1st, many thought Ashley was playing an April Fool’s joke on them when she announced her pregnancy on Facebook…

So to prove that she was still pregnant the next day and that it’s no joke on her end, she posted the below pregnant photo on Instagram and stated that she was ‘still pregnant’ after April Fool’s day. She made sure to tag Musiq Soulchild in the pic just so we know it’s real..

For those who aren’t familiar with the woman who will be the mother of Musiq Soulchild’s second child, Ashley gets quite a bit of praise and sometimes flack on social media over her style of parenting. She’s is a firm believer of parents connecting with their children in a more nontraditional way (in today’s society) and in the purest form.

Her Instagram oftentimes shows her posing with very little clothing on -or completely nude- with her four year old daughter either close by, or strapped to her. The poses seem like a combination between yoga, pole dancing, and some other type of flexible stances that many people could never possibly twist their limbs into…but somehow homegirl, can…

Soulchild’s girlfriend is also an advocate for public breastfeeding and sometimes gets backlash and handclaps online for showing herself breast feeding her four year old daughter in public. But Ms. Wright takes it all in stride and had to defend herself with statements like this one in past:

“Glad I can be a symbol of strength, courage, divine femininity and progression. Not everyone understands. And that is ok.”

Because of her personal beliefs – and I’m pretty sure the flexible poses helps- Ashley’s gained many supporters of her movement. Clearly, Musiq Soulchild is one of her supporters and as you can see in the above Instagram video, he has a beautiful bond with her daughter as well.

On a side note: What happened with Musiq and Meelah Williams, the former lead singer of  the group, 702? Remember Meelah? She was on R&B Divas a couple years ago, she dated Musiq for 10 years and they have a son together.

No disrespect to his new lady, but I was kinda rooting for Musiq and Meelah to reunite. They’re great friends and it seemed like they had great chemistry as a couple. But ah well…guess everything ain’t always meant to be.

Now that Musiq and Ashley have a little one on the way, I sincerely wish them a happy healthy baby and a long lasting relationship.
