ILOSM fam’ if you haven’t heard by now, we have sad news to report, Walter “Junie” Morrison, one of the founding members of the legendary 70’s soul group, The Ohio Players and a member of Parliament-Funkadelics, has passed away at 62 years young.

Junie is the singer/songwriter/keyboardist/producer known for his contributions to many hits, such as “Fire,” “Funky Worm,” “Pain,” Ecstacy,” “One Nation Under A Groove,” and so many other now highly sampled pieces of funk classics.

On January 11, 2017 Junie Morrison reposted into the world of social media: it would be SELAH. so be it. And ten days later, SELAH. Dear friends and colleagues, we lost another great one. I’m sure you can agree that Junie will be greatly missed. I wasn’t around my father much but somehow I am like him in so many ways. As Old Schooler’s, we may not realize it but we have an even stronger connection to actress, Sanaa Lathan, than we may think, because we have a strong connection to the work of her Dad. Sanaa Lathan’s dad, Stan Lathan is a heavyweight in the entertainment world, but he’s more known behind the scenes, rather than in front of the camera.

Stan has directed many episodes of Sanford & Son, Hill Street Blues, Miami Vice, Cagney & Lacey, Frank’s Place, Roc and others. He also directed the 1984 film, Beat Street. He partnered with Russell Simmons to produce Def Comedy Jams and the list goes on and on. He has also has directed the pilots for many sitcoms, including Martin, Real Husbands of Hollywood, Moesha, The Parkers, The Steve Harvey Show, Amen, Cedric the Entertainer Presents, The Soul Man, and many more.  Remember 1984 film, Beat Street? Yep, Stan directed that one too and his list of credits goes on and on.

Here’s the thing, there was a very popular 70’s model whom, if you love Old School soul music, you are very familiar with. This model recently revealed that she was madly in love with Sanaa’s dad and that she knew Sanaa well when she was a little girl. Check out who she is after the jump…
