Oprah Winfrey, no matter the seismic scale of financial wealth, is still a sista at the end of the day. And one lady found out that her clap backs are out of her tax bracket.

If you haven’t heard, billionaire Robert F. Smith gave the commencement speech at Morehouse College, as reports CNN. The topic has made headlines across the nation, as the school mentions those debts would cover up to $40 million for the Class of 2019 — which is specifically the class Smith mentioned in the speech.

So, of course, this story spread like wildfire. It’s truly an awesome thing. However, at the same time, it seems that other celebrities have become targets.

Like Oprah…

Yet, people haven’t gone to the shooting range enough to attempt to use Oprah as target practice.

Oprah was also at a college campus on Sunday, May 19 — Colorado College, to be exact. She spoke about a particular young man who captured her attention. But someone tried to take that moment to tell Oprah what she “should have” done.

Here’s to having the last laugh. If you’ve ever wondered what pushed Oprah Winfrey over the edge in corporate America, this just might be the case.

During an interview at Stanford University, Oprah opened up about the time her former boss on the show, People Are Talking, basically told her she wasn’t worth a pay raise.

At the time, during the late 1970’s, her co-anchor — Richard Sher — was making double her salary for the very same position. And that just wasn’t sitting right with now-billionaire, Oprah Winfrey. So, according to her interview, she went to her boss for a raise.

CNBC reports Oprah told the boss it was unfair they weren’t getting similar pay, especially given the fact they were in the same position, doing the exact same job as co-hosts.

But her boss’s response was a real eye-opener for Winfrey. The source says he stated:

“Why should you make as much money as he? He has children. Do you have children?…He has to pay for college educations. He owns his own home, do you own your home?”

And after vehemently pointing out several more of her co-host’s expenses, Oprah’s former boss furthermore asked, “So tell me, why do you need the same amount of money?”

According to her interview, that’s when she knew it was time for her to exit that job.

“I said ‘Thank you for your time,’ and I left,” Winfrey told the university audience.

“The reason why I left my boss’s office when I was asking for a raise — I knew he didn’t hear nor see me, and that I was not going to get the validation that I needed. I decided not to file a suit against it because I knew at the time that I would lose, that no good would come of it,” revealed Oprah.

NOTE: However, according to Baltimore Sun — prior to the last straw — Oprah endured hellish conditions, harassment (including sexual), and undermining at her former employer. Regarding her time in Maryland, she mentioned as follows:

“Not all my memories of Baltimore are fond ones. But…it grew me into a real woman. I came in naive, unskilled, not really knowing anything about the business — or about life. And Baltimore grew me up.”

THE NEXT TIME

After some time hosting her own show, she came to her boss for a raise…but not for her. It was for her show’s producers.

“I was making a lot of money, and my producers were still getting the same salary,” Oprah mentions during a Time Magazine interview. “I went to my boss at the time and I said, ‘Everybody needs a raise.'”

However, this time she had power and clout behind her request. CNBC reports her boss’ highly sexist response as:

“They’re only girls. They’re a bunch of girls. What do they need more money for?”

According to the source, Oprah then — effective immediately — refused to host another show until they received their raise. Of course, they got it.

To top that cake, Winfrey says that in the late 90’s, she had the sweet pleasure of running into her old boss from Baltimore — as a multi-billionaire!

“One of the sweetest moments I ever had,” Oprah elaborates.

Then there is pop star, Seal. He, however, not only doesn’t think Oprah is the person for the job, but he sideways dissed her on Instagram over the idea. The “Kiss From A Rose” singer singled out Oprah for having once been an associate of former Hollywood executive, Harvey Weinstein- the dude who’s recently been outed for allegedly sexually assaulting many women in Hollywood. Prior to celebs learning about the many allegations against Weinstein, many of them were associated with him, because they had no reason NOT to be. So why Seal chose to single out Oprah? Who knows.

After Oprah gave her Golden Globes speech in which she actually denounced sexual predators, Seal posted a meme that read:

“When you have been part of the problem for decades, but suddenly they all think you are the solution.”

And he captioned it with this:

“Oh I forgot, that’s right….. you’d heard the [rumors] but you had no idea he was actually serially assaulting young [starry]-eyed actresses who in turn had no idea what they were getting into. My bad. #SanctimoniousHollywood.”

As you could imagine, fans slammed the hell outta Seal, calling him a “hater” and “Uncle Tom” after his blatant diss to Ms. Winfrey. He also gained an ally afterwards- avid Trump supporter, Stacey Dash, who retweeted his Oprah diss.

I guess that’s when the heat got too hot in the kitchen for Seal and now he’s decided to backpeddle on his Oprah diss, by trying to convince us all that we did not see what we actually saw in his prior post. Good luck with that Seal. At any rate check out what he now has to say below:

My parents are from Africa — more specifically, Nigeria — and I am about as black as you will ever get […] “And, Stacey Dash…keep my name out of your mouth. Do not retweet, re-quote anything I have said in order to reinforce your self-hating agenda. … You live in the Sunken Place.”

A “source close to the two Hollywood moguls” said that Tyler Perry refused to acknowledge Oprah’s suggestions for his show.

“When Tyler first bought his shows to OWN in 2012, it was a love affair between the two of them,” the source said. “Oprah was very involved in watching Tyler develop them creatively, and they even shot promos together with her as Miss Sophia from The Color Purple and he as Madea. But that relationship has soured in the last six months because Oprah finds Tyler difficult to work with and he doesn’t take constructive criticism well at all.”

According to the source, things got especially tense when Oprah tried to bring new writers onto Perry’s shows, particularly The Have and Have Nots, after viewer feedback suggested Perry’s writing was lacking. “That’s when Oprah finally got to see a side of Tyler she hadn’t experienced yet,” the source says. “He resisted her feedback, the same way he resists the feedback of critics and media people who chastise his work, and became extremely defensive with her.”

The source continues, “He told her, ‘Aren’t the shows delivering ratings for the network? Well, then let me do what I do and you can keep your focus group research to yourself.'”

What’s more, Oprah is reportedly pissed about recent news reports claiming Perry “saved” her network with his high-rated shows. The impasse means the two moguls are keeping their distance from eachother.

‘Oprah basically had to remind him, “you needed me as much as I needed you when we decided to do this partnership and don’t forget that”,’ tells the source.

The professional squabble caused the two to stop communicating as much personally.

“Gone were the days of them having long phone conversations and texting late into the night.”

Of course, his absense could also have to do with the fact that he has a newborn baby at home. We’re hoping these feud rumors are just that — rumors — because these two Black Hollywood powerhouses work amazingly well together.

Remember Frankie Smith? Okay you might not remember his name, but if you’re a fan of 80’s music, you remember his song, “Double Dutch Bus.” He had everybody singing the lyrics to his quirky jam: “Double Dutch Bus coming down the street, movin’ pretty fast, so kind of shuffle your feet. Alright now that we’ve taken that trip back down memory lane let’s talk about this thing he did with Oprah. Most of us thought he was over, after the song faded off of the airwaves into one hit wonder history, but lo’ and behold, our man Frankie Smith was still making moves long after we stopped playing his song at our school dances and barbeques…well, many of us still bump that one at the family bbq’s, and we’re not mad at that at all.
