What does Apple Inc, Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry all have in common? Apart from lot’s of money…the answer is an upcoming documentary series on mental health that will air on Apple’s forthcoming streaming service. In March, Apple announced its own TV and movie streaming service, enlisting superstars to try to overcome its rivals’ head start.

Kensington Palace announced Wednesday Harry and Winfrey will serve as co-creators and executive producers of the as-yet-untitled project, reports USA Today

In a statement released by the palace, Harry revealed he has been working on the multi-part docuseries for several months with Winfrey.

“I truly believe that good mental health – mental fitness – is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self,” Harry said. “It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times. Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive – sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better.”

In March, Oprah and other Hollywood A-listers trekked to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, for an event designed to showcase a slate of TV shows coming this fall.

Oprah told the Apple crowd that she and Harry had talked about purpose and storytelling and how the tech giant plans to provide “a  unique opportunity to rise to our best selves in how we use, and choose to use, both our technology and our humanity.”

The late Princess Diana’s youngest son, Prince Harry (33) and his new fiancee/actress, Meghan Markle (36), turned millions of heads when they announced their engagement on November 27, 2017. That was due to several reasons. The issue of race has been a big deal regarding the royal couple. Many racists were pissed that one of the most sought after cats in the world chose a half African American Princess (Meghan’s biracial: Caucasian and Black). Then there were millions of others who were hella happy that Meghan had said “Yes” and that the Prince will now have a Black bride. Simply put, their decision to jump the broom had folks shook in one way or another.

Fast forward to today and the future Mr. and Mrs….or shall we, say, the soon-to-be Prince and Princess, have released their official royal engagement photos. The royal Kensington Palace posted these photos online:

As y’all can see, Harry and Meghan look crazy in love and we couldn’t be happier for them.

Stevie Wonder & Paul McCartney Should Be Proud

Ironically, Meghan’s and Prince Harry’s engagement pics made us think of Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney during the year of 1982. Many of us Old Schoolers will never forget their classic song, “Ebony & Ivory.” It was the perfect collabo’ between the ex-Beatle and one of the greatest ‘wonders’ of the music industry. The song was about races coming together in “perfect harmony, living in perfect harmony.”

Via TheHollywoodReporter: In an April 1982 interview with Bryant Gumbel on NBC’s Today, Paul said: “I had a song called ‘Ebony and Ivory’ that I’d written, and I wanted to sing it with a black guy. And my first thought was Stevie.” He’d been a longtime fan of Wonder: McCartney put a message to the singer in Braille on the back cover of his 1973 album Red Rose Speedway: “We love ya, baby.”

Wonder didn’t need much cajoling. In The Billboard Book of Number One Hits, Fred Bronson quotes the singer as telling Dick Clark on The National Music Survey: “I listened to the song, and I liked it very much. … I felt it was positive for everybody. I won’t say it demanded of people to reflect upon it, but it politely asks the people to reflect upon life in using the terms of music … this melting pot of many different people.”

Given the fact that Meghan and Prince Harry have received an array of mixed fan reactions, “Ebony & Ivory” needs to be their theme song. Why? Because they’re forcing the typically predominantly-white royal history to be viewed in a far more inclusive, diversified manner. They’re also setting a new tone for the world and their future kids, which, by the way, Prince Harry and Meghan have both stated they cannot wait to have one day.

Meghan and Harry will tie the knot at London’s St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018. Pretty sure those TV ratings will be high.

The royal fam’ has been cool with America’s first African American ‘first family’ ever since Obama stepped into the oval office in 2009. They’ve continued their friendships, even after the President had to pass the torch and future fate of America’s existence to uh…the man who is currently in office now, but I digress.

Anywho, although Prince Harry and Pres. Obama have a cool relationship, that didn’t stop Harry from being more nervous than a prostitute in Sunday worship service, when it came time for him to officially interview Obama for his podcast on BBC Radio 4’s “Today.” The other day, Harry -who has been in the public’s eye since birth- was surprisingly a lil’ frazzled in the presence of Obama. That’s understandable though, based on the fact that Obama accomplished an uphill battle that his African ancestors would be proud of and many people of today would not have believed in a million years- if they did not see it with their own eyes.

Prince Harry, being a wise cat beyond his years, was not out of touch with that magnificent reality and his nervousness only proved the great deal of respect he has for Pres. Obama. It also proved that although he may be royalty, he’s humble enough to recognize when he’s in the presence of greatness.

Noticing Harry’s nervousness, Obama tried to ease Harry’s worries, by crackin’ a couple jokes. Obama even jokingly asked Harry if he’d rather be interviewed by him for the show instead. Harry immediately said “No, no”…LOL. The joking helped, because Harry was able to crack one back on Obama, telling him that if he took too long speaking in his signature in-depth slower paced manner, he’d have to give him “the look.” Check out their behind-the-scenes outtake of the interview above.

Overall, it was actually pretty cool to see Harry get a lil flustered by the ever-so-calm Pres. Obama, because it also showed that Harry is what many have described him as- a down to earth dude, who does not view his ‘royal status’ as an automatic sense of entitlement, nor privilege. Now we can see why his new fiancee/actress, Meghan Markle, is diggin’ him.
