After FBI files were released a few years back about the beloved Whitney Houston; along with surprising claims of her former bodyguard, Kevin Ammons…rumors began swirling about an alleged lesbian relationship between Whitney Houston and her best friend, Robyn Crawford. FORMER BODYGUARD CLAIMS HOUSTON WAS EXTORTED OVER ALLEGED LESBIAN AFFAIR

Both Whitney’s ex-bodyguard-turned author, Kevin Ammons (author of “Good Girl, Bad Girl), and author, Ian Helperin, claim that Houston was extorted so that details about her alleged lesbian affair with her best friend, Robyn Crawford, wouldn’t surface. According to Helperin’s book, “Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina: The Deadly Price of Fame,” on the eve of “The Bodyguard” movie premiere in 1992, a Chicago lawyer tried to extort Whitney for $250,000. The lawyer allegedly told an FBI agent that the details included “knowledge of intimate details regarding Whitney Houston’s romantic relationships and will go public with the information.” But Ammons claims Whitney’s dad then tried to do the unthinkable.

EX-BODYGUARD’S SHOCKING CLAIM ABOUT WHITNEY’S DAD

Kevin Ammons also made claims in his book that Whitney’s father, John Houston, tried to hire him to do harm to Robyn Crawford because he felt that she was causing too many problems for Whitney and their family. According to Helperin, Ammons also told him that John Houston thought Crawford would go public with her alleged relationship with Whitney:

“We’ve got to do something about that motherf–ing b—h [Robyn Crawford]. She’s ruining my family and driving everybody nuts. She’s lost her grip on reality. I’ll pay you $6,000 if you put the fear of God in her,” Ammons quoted John Houston as saying.

Ammons says he turned down John’s offer, but was instructed by John to “keep an eye” on her [Robin Crawford].” There’s one other claim that was made…

FBI FILES SHOW SOMEONE DEMANDED A LOT OF $$$ FROM WHITNEY

Below is a redacted portion of the FBI files, which detail the early ’90s extortion attempt on Whitney Houston:

“[Redacted] said [Redacted] told him that [Redacted] has knowledge of intimate details regarding Whitney Houston’s romantic relationships, and will go public with the information unless [Redacted] is paid $250,000. [Redacted] told [Redacted] client will sign a confidentiality agreement if [Redacted] is paid the $250,000.”

The FBI also included in Whitney’s file, an Executed Confidentiality Agreement which possibly means Whitney may have paid the money and the extortion plot was successful.

ROBYN CRAWFORD ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO STOP WEDDING, WHITNEY BOUGHT HER A PORSCHE

Whitney’s ex-bodyguard, Ammons, also claimed Robyn Crawford was furious about Whitney marrying Bobby Brown, claiming Robyn even tried to stop the wedding, which was also portrayed in the “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody” biopic. According to Ammons, on Whitney and Bobby’s wedding day, Whitney surprised Robyn with a brand new Porsche so that Robyn (her maid of honor) would behave at the wedding.

Overall, we tip our hat to the late, great Whitney Houston, because through the incredible amount of pressures she was faced with she continued to fight through it, holding her head up high. Robyn Crawford’s Father Speaks Out

In a 2017 interview with Radar Online, Robyn Crawford’s father, Dennis Crawford, revealed that he’d already known- since Robyn and Whitney were kids- that they were in a romantic relationship:

“I knew 40 years ago, we all knew,” Dennis Crawford, 79, insisted to Radar today. “I saw them together.” The doting father, who said he saw the two women holding hands and kissing, accepted his daughter’s longtime romance with the famous singer. “When she told me, there was nothing I could do about it except love her,” he recalled.

“She knew about the relationship with my daughter 25 years ago. Why she would deny it, you have to ask her,” Dennis huffed. Whitney’s famous cousin, fellow singer Dionne Warwick, also was in on the closely guarded secret. “Dionne grew up with them, and knew about it too,” Dennis added.

Others Close To Whitney Make Similar Claims

Robyn isn’t the only one to make such claims. There were others who were close to Whitney, who said the same thing,

Via People: “I don’t think she was gay, I think she was bisexual,” Houston’s longtime friend and stylist Ellin Lavar says in the film. Lavar adds: “Robyn provided a safe place for her…in that Whitney found safety and solace.”

In the April 2017 documentary, Whitney: Can I Be Me, Whitney’s bodyguard (whom the film The Bodyguard was loosely based on), Kevin Ammons, spoke about how the love Bobby Brown and Robyn had for Whitney drew serious tension:

But then Whitney would always come and pour oil over troubled waters,” he adds. Robyn was the person who was keeping her together,” Lavar recalls.

Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown has made recent claims similar to Ammons.’ Bobby stated, in an interview, that during his marriage to Whitney, he knew about her alleged relationship with Robyn. He also said her mom, Cissy, was the one who ultimately pushed Robyn out of Whitney’s life, leaving her severely depressed. Bobby expressed that he believes if Robyn would have still been in Whitney’s life, Whitney would still be alive today.

Many of you may recall when Cissy did an interview with Oprah in 2013 and stated that it would have “absolutely” have bothered her if Whitney and Robyn really did have a lesbian relationship. Later on, in her Remembering Whitney, Cissy Houston wrote about Whitney and Robyn:

“I just didn’t want her [Robyn] with my daughter. I know nothing about a romantic relationship. That’s what everybody said, but they didn’t know either.”
