Congresswoman Reveals Trump’s ‘Insensitive’ Phone Call To Widow

By Tuesday morning, after receiving major backlash for not addressing the slain officers deaths, Trump called the pregnant widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, Myesha Johnson, to offer his ‘condolences.’ Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D- Florida) and Sgt. Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson were in the car, listening to the conversation on speakerphone, as Trump spoke to Myesha. That’s when this situation sadly went from bad to worse.

By Tuesday night, Congresswoman Wilson revealed, on CNN, that she was shocked to hear Trump tell Sgt. Johnson’s widow, Myesha, that ‘he knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurts,’ in regards to Johnson’s murder. Wilson says Myesha immediately “broke down” after speaking with Trump.

Wilson later said “Mr. Trump is crazy” and has some sort of “brain disorder.” On Wednesday, she also revealed to CNN, that during the call, Trump didn’t even remember Sgt. Johnson’s name. By that point, Wilson she was ready to “curse him out” if she would have had the chance to speak during his phone call to Myesha Johnson.

Trump’s Denial

Then came Trump’s denial on Twitter and in a White House statement:

“Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof). Sad!”

Via CNN: “I didn’t say what that congresswoman said. Didn’t say it at all,” Trump told reporters during a meeting on tax reform in the Cabinet Room. “She knows it. And she now is not saying it. I did not say what she said.” Trump said he had a “very nice” conversation with Johnson’s widow, “who sounded like a lovely woman.” Referring to Wilson, he added: “I’d like her to make the statement again because I did not say what she said.”

Mother Of Sgt. Johnson CONFIRMS Trump Is Lying

Soon after Trump denied ever saying ‘he knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurts,’ to Sgt. Johnson’s widow, Sgt. Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, CONFIRMED that Trump did in fact “disrespect” their family with that statement.

Via DailyMail: “Yes the statement is true,” Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told the Associated Press on Wednesday. “I was in the car and I heard the full conversation. Not only did he disrespect my son,” she said, but Trump also disrespected the [deceased] soldier’s father and his widow. Jones-Johnson, who was listening on speakerphone, also told The Washington Post that “President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter, and also me and my husband.”

This is VERY sad…but not unexpected of Trump, based on what he’s displayed thus far. The ladies of The View spoke candidly about this on Wednesday morning and Whoopi summed it up best:

“All I can say is, have you no shame, sir? Have you no shame? That you would bring up … I’m infuriated.” […] “I love my troops and I’ll tell you why. I grew up in Chelsea and we sent many to fight in Vietnam and some came back and did terrible things to themselves. To me, if your kids haven’t gone or you didn’t go, I need you to have a whole different mindset with the folks who went.”

Whoopi’s statement is also a glimmer of irony for Trump, who blatantly blames NFL players- who take a knee for equal rights- as somehow ‘disrespecting’ the military and America. We can only hope that Trump’s conversation with the three other slain U.S. serviceman was far more respectful than the one he reportedly had with Sgt. Johnson’s wife.
