In a heartwarming return to the spotlight, legendary comedian Sinbad recently made his first public appearance since suffering a major stroke in 2020. The 67-year-old entertainer joined the cast of “A Different World” for a virtual reunion, marking the beginning of a 10-city tour of historically Black colleges and universities.

Expressing his gratitude to fans for their prayers and support, Sinbad took to Instagram to share his thoughts. Reflecting on the overwhelming positive response, he captioned an Instagram Reel with:

“Thank you for your prayers, support, and positive thoughts. They’ve carried me this far and will see me through to the finish line. It really is a different world out here!”

In the video, Sinbad, born David Adkins, watched a recording of the event, visibly moved by the audience’s enthusiastic applause. He marveled at the college students’ familiarity with his work, stating, “That’s beautiful.” The outpouring of support extended beyond the students, with his peers in the entertainment industry sending warm wishes and admiration.

Since his stroke, Sinbad has been on a journey of recovery, battling the physical and emotional challenges that come with such a health setback. Despite the difficulties, he remains optimistic and determined to regain his strength. In an inspiring message to his fans, Sinbad promised this:

“Expect to see more of me soon, and don’t freak out if you turn around and I’m standing right behind you. ‘Sinbad, I can’t believe you’re here!’ You better believe it. Miracles happen.”

The comedian’s resilience and positive attitude have been a source of inspiration for many who have faced similar health situations. Sinbad has received countless messages of support through his website and has made it a priority to personally respond to as many as possible.

The stroke, which occurred in October 2020, was triggered by a blood clot that traveled from Sinbad’s heart to his brain. Throughout the challenging recovery process, Sinbad’s family has been by his side, relying on the power of prayer and the love and support of fans, as was evident in the 2022 update message they wrote to fans on Sinbad’s website, which read:

“The family believes, without exception, Sinbad is here because of the multitude of prayers from all who know and love him,” his family’s 2022 statement reads. “We are eternally grateful. Every outpouring of love and the memories of how he has touched all of you have not gone unheard, unseen, or unfelt. Thank you. You have lifted his spirits along the way and inspired the entire family.”

As the beloved entertainer continues to make progress, his return to the stage is symbolic of his unwavering spirit. Sinbad’s story is one of resilience and hope, reminding us all that even in the face of adversity, miracles can happen. Two years ago comedic legend, Sinbad, suffered a stroke, and now his family says he’s still fighting a very tough battle to regain his strength.

In the first update Sinbad’s family has given since his 2020 stroke was revealed, they have released a detailed statement on his current condition. They say Sinbad is still learning how to walk; as well as perform basic tasks, as he regains some strength in limbs that were previously classified as “dead.”

His loved ones have shared that Sinbad was hospitalized for nine months, prior to being released in July of this year (2022), and that he is still “fighting for every inch” of his recovery, but the road will be a long one.

According to Sinbad’s family, there is only a 30% chance of surviving a ischemic stroke, like the one he suffered. Therefore, they are beyond grateful that Sinbad was able to beat those odds. They say he suffered a blood clot originally, which sparked the stroke…but unfortunately, things took a major turn for the worst, and here’s what the family says happened to Sinbad next:

“[Sinbad] was rushed into surgery at West Hills Medical Center that night where the doctor’s performed a thrombectomy to remove the clot and restore normal blood flow to the brain.

The family’s statement continued:

“After surgery, Sinbad was talking and moving with some weakness, but the prognosis was very promising. The next day, however, another blood clot formed, half the size of the first. He underwent the same surgery again successfully but it took a little more from him than the first surgery. He was transferred to Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where the doctors indicated that his brain had begun to swell. They performed a craniotomy to relieve the pressure and reduce the swelling. During surgery, however, the doctors discovered a bleed. It was hours before the family learned Sinbad had returned to the Neuro-ICU in a medically induced coma and placed on a ventilator. Our hearts were devastated. The road to recovery became unclear and extremely difficult for the family to navigate.”

Sinbad’s family says unfortunately, his therapy bills have “far exceeded” what his insurance company covers. Well, well, well, here we are hours after the highly anticipated, yet controversial Super Bowl halftime show and Justin Timberlake is still the talk of social media-world. After watching his halftime performance, many couldn’t wait to weigh in on it online. I thought it was mediocre at best, but not everyone felt that way. Timberlake received mixed reviews all up and down Twitter and many celebs gave their opinions too.

One of those celebs is Prince’s good friend/comedian, Sinbad. He had a major issue with Justin opting to still include Prince in his show, by projecting Prince’s image onto what appeared to be some type of huge sheet, as Timberlake performed at the piano. Sinbad called out the past shade and diss track Timberlake did about Prince a few years ago. In fact, Sinbad hated Timberlake’s tribute so much, that he actually used profanity- something he’s been known for having  built his legendary comedic career not doing- at least not in public. Here’s what Sinbad tweeted:

How The Prince/Timberlake Beef Started

Now if that ain’t straight to the point, then I don’t know what is. FYI: In case you’re wondering how Prince’s and Timberlake’s past beef started, it was apparently from a joke Prince reportedly craked at a post-Emmy’s party in 2006. Prince was said to have to a jab at Timberlake’s song “SexyBack,” by saying “For whoever is claiming they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!” Timberlake then dissed him in his 2007 song, “Give It To Me,” with this lyrics:

“We missed you on the charts last week/ Damn, that’s right you wasn’t there/ Now if se-sexy never left, then why is everybody on my s**t/ Don’t hate on me just because you didn’t come up with it.”

Sheila E. Made Timberlake Change Prince Tribute

Justin’s Super Bowl Prince projection was apparently a last minute switch-a-roo, after Sheila E. checked him on social media Saturday, following the revelation that he was going to perform with a hologram of Prince. Timberlake then respectfully called Sheila E. to find an alternative solution to the hologram, which is what the “Glamorous Life” singer/drummer said Prince specifically told her “never” to allow someone to do to him in death.

Some may disagree with me on this, but I think Timberlake definitely would’ve scored way higher if he’d brought out Janet Jackson for this year’s Super Bowl show. If you guessed the one and only comedian/actor, Sinbad, you were on point! Some of us may not know that Sinbad is a professional musician- a drummer/percussionist whose stage moniker is ‘Memphis Red’- but if you’ve ever seen his stand-ups back in the day, you know he LOVES soul music. He used to incorporate soul classics into his comedy shows, like the time he imitated the Chi-lites, with “Have You Seen Her.” If you don’t remember that one, check out the video below.
