Why Mel B.’s Ex Wants Rights To Eddie’s Daughter

In case y’all haven’t heard, Stephen is fighting for rights to the “X Factor” judge’s and Eddie’s little Angel. Mel has three children: Angel; daughter, Madison (6) with Stephen; and daughter, Phoenix (19), from her first marriage. Though Stephen was granted joint custody of Madison- his biological daughter with Mel B.- Mel is telling her ex-hubby of 10 years to ‘get tuh steppin’ when it comes to Eddie’s daughter.

Mel B. and Stephen appeared in court recently, over Eddie’s daughter, and Stephen told the judge he should be granted step-parent rights, because Angel “has called me dad since she started to talk.” He continued, “I strongly believe that Brown’s abrupt decision to cut off all ties between Angel and I has been emotionally traumatizing and detrimental to Angel’s mental health and well being.”

Mel B.’s New Clapback- ‘Don’t Go Around Edie’s Daughter!’

It’s just been reported that Mel B. has now filed new legal docs, claiming that Stephen’s so-called connection to Angel is a bunch of bullcrap and here’s why:

Via TMZ: According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Mel B says while she was with Stephen he aggressively tried to drive a wedge between her and Eddie. She says Stephen once took her phone and sent text messages to Eddie’s assistant … and whatever he texted pissed Eddie off enough to cancel a visit with Angel.

She says Stephen’s allegation, that Eddie has abandoned Angel, is BS … Mel B says Eddie has interacted with Angel numerous times. Mel B says since Stephen’s been out of the picture she’s resurrected her relationship with Eddie. He got Angel her first cell phone, Angel named one of her dogs Axel after Eddie’s character in “Beverly Hills Cop” and she’s plastered pics of the “Shrek” premiere on her bedroom wall. Mel B says Angel is flourishing now but is terrified of Stephen.

She also says it’s laughable that Stephen has bonded with Angel … she says he confuses Angel for his other daughter, Madison, in his legal docs.

Mel B. revealed that she and Stephen had a tumultuous, abusive marriage.

They All Seem Wrong

Quite frankly, all three parties involved, appear to have some wrongdoing, as it pertains to 10 year old Angel:
(1) For starters, Stephen’s sentiments just do not seem very genuine…that’s just my opinion though.
(2) If what Mel B. is saying is true, then she, too, deserves the finger pointed at her, for allowing ANY man to ‘drive a wedge’ between the her child and the biological father.
(3) Although Eddie’s not running to the paparazzi to make a media circus of himself, he’s not off the hook. Again, if Mel B.’s side of the story is accurate, then there should NEVER come a time where a father will allow his ex’s man to dictate whether or not he will see HIS biological child.

However, if I had to choose, I’d say it’s best for Angel to be close with her daddy, Eddie, which is where she seems happy. Movin’ on…

The ever so private comedic superstar, Eddie Murphy, has just gotten dragged into the media circus that has turned out to be his ex, Mel B.’s (former Spice Girl singer) and her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte’s divorce proceedings.

Many of y’all probably recall our previous reports regarding the allegations Mel B. made about her 10 year marriage to Stephen. She said that he was physically and emotionally abusive toward her and she also claims that he repeatedly forced her to have threesomes with various random women throughout their marriage. Stephen denies her claims though.

As they go through divorce process, which also entails a fight over what percentage of Mel’s $30+ million estate Stephen will be entitled to, Mel B.’s three children (one with Stephen, one from her prior marriage, and one with Eddie Murphy) are getting sucked into the drama as well.

At first Mel B.’s ex-husband, Jimmy Gulzar, spoke out about his fight to get his daughter, Phoenix (20), away from Mel B.’s home, where it was alleged that Stephen abused her.

What A Judge Has Just Granted Mel B.’s Husband

Now, Eddie Murphy is probably gonna have to step in, because his daughter, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, is currently at the center of Mel B.’s and Stephen’s divorce dispute. Stephen Belafonte recently asked a judge to grant him the right to file for legal access to not just his biological daughter, Madison Brown Belafonte (5), but also access to Eddie’s daughter with Mel B., Angel Iris Murphy Brown (10). Why? Because Stephen says it would be in the best interest of Angel, since it was him who has raised her from a very young age and not Eddie.

As of Thursday, Los Angeles Superior Court’s Judge Lawrence Riff granted Stephen’s request because the judge believes that Stephen has a point and should at least be given the opportunity to file for access if, and only if, another judge will later find that is what is in the best interest of Angel Iris Murphy Brown.

Mel B. is fighting on her daughter’s and Eddie’s behalf in court because she feels that Stephen dragging Angel’s name into their divorce drama, will then drag Eddie into the situation, thus causing their daughter to have to suffer in an even bigger media circus type situation.

Via DailyMail: Mel’s lawyer Susan Wiesner pleaded for Angel’s involvement to be kept private to prevent the case further descending into a media “circus”. Speaking on Thursday, she said: ‘We have got another parent here, we have got Eddie Murphy. If the court’s going to give him notice of proceedings and embroiling him in litigation, then we are putting his little girl in the middle of this media firestorm.’ She asked for Angel, who the couple had during their brief relationship, to remain “the last one in this family that can have protection and privacy”.

In response to Mel’s concerns, Stephen’s attorney stated that little Angel is already part of the media circus because she’s being paraded around on TMZ constantly, according to the DailyMail report.

In case you’re wondering why Stephen was even raising Angel in the first place, it’s because Eddie Murphy got Mel pregnant while they were dating, but then didn’t believe Angel was his, stating that Mel possibly had several partners at that time. Soon as Angel was born, Eddie and Mel took a blood test and it confirmed Angel was his little girl. Eddie began financially supporting Angel, but still didn’t have much contact with her outside of that.

Mel married Stephen two months after giving birth to Angel. Later on, Mel B. said that Eddie and Angel did form a bond and that he’d started spending more time with her. We’re not sure where Eddie’s relationship stands with his daughter Angel now, but we do know that Stephen married Mel B. when Angel was one year old and Mel B.’s stated in the past that Stephen was the father figure she was closest to.

Not sure if Mel B.’s attempt to keep Angel and Eddie out of this divorce mess, will be a success, but whatever is in the best interest of that child is what will hopefully happen onc it’s all said and done. So far, there has been no word from Eddie Murphy on this unfortunate fiasco.

Court Battle & Abuse Claims

Mel a.k.a. the mother of Eddie Murphy’s adorable daughter, has been battling Stephen in their pending divorce proceedings for months now. Just a few months ago, she filed for divorce because she was tired of Stephen allegedly using her body and face as a punching bag. She also claimed that she was tired of Stephen forcing her to have sex with other women. In addition to her physical abuse claims, Mel.’s words were reportedly then backed up with proof, after photos of her battered face were released online.

Here’s What Mel B. Must Now Pay Estranged Husband

Via TMZ: Stephen Belafonte’s request for emergency spousal support was granted by a judge who agrees … he needs help paying for food, housing and his phone, among other things. It could have been worse for Mel. […] The order also includes a one-time payment of $140,000 for Stephen’s legal fees. So, Mel will have to cut a check for that, plus $40k monthly, until both sides work out their final divorce settlement.

Is Stephen Employed?

In case you’re wondering whether or not Stephen earns any bread of his own, a few months ago he said that after being kicked out of their L.A. family home, he had no place to live and very little money. In court docs he’d said that prior to he and Mel splitting, money was no object (uh…yeah, that’s because she had it). But after the split he said the negative publicity from the divorce caused him a $500K gig and now he could barely get by, according to a prior TMZ repot.

Word on the Old School curb is that Stephen was working at he and Mel’s Hollywood, Ca. restaurant, Serafina. Now that he’s about to get $40K monthly, buying juice, snacks and steaks for the fridge will be the least of his worries. Right now what the former Spice Girl probably “really, really wants” is for Stephen to get a better paying job.
