Fantasia Has A Message For Anti-Police Brutality Protestors In N.C….

Fantasia has just posted a few messages to all of those who stand with the anti-police protesters in her home state of North Carolina, where it has sadly looked like police/protester clashes in the segregated civil rights era as protestors continued yesterday, to stand up against police brutality well into the night hours on tear-gas smoke filled streets.

The Charlotte, N.C. protests were sparked after Charlotte police killed 43 year old, Keith Lamont Scott, who according to family members was holding a book that police officers say was a gun. Keith’s death came the day after footage showing what really happened when Tulsa, OK police officer, Betty Shelby (who is Caucasian), shot and killed the unarmed, fully compliant, African American 40 year old, Terence Crutcher.

So far no charges have been brought against any Charlotte, N.C. officer involved in Keith’s murder because the investigation is still pending and people are outraged that the police department refuses to release the dash cam footage of Keith’s shooting. It would be VERY wise for Charlotte police to NOT attempt to cover up anything, which was exactly what happened in the initial Tulsa reports on Terence Crutcher’s murder, BEFORE the actual dash cam footage was released days later.

As far as officer Betty Shelby, she was charged with first degree manslaughter, which typically warrants a much lesser sentence than a murder charge. It’s good that charges were brought against Shelby, but I must admit that I’m still confused as to why Terence Crutcher’s murder is not being charged as such against her. We’ll just have to sit back and see how that whole thing plays out I guess.

Our prayers and condolences continue to go out to the families of Terence Crutcher and Keith Lamont Scott. May they rest peacefully.

Sheryl Underwood BREAKS DOWN While Demanding Justice For Terence Crutcher

Many viewers of Tuesday’s episode of “The Talk” were brought to tears as we watched “The Talk’s” co-host/comedian, Sheryl Underwood, painfully and angrily break down while discussing the brutal murder of Terence Crutcher (who was an unarmed Black man) by Tulsa, OK police officer, Betty Shelby (who is White), as well as the thousands of other innocent Black people who are being consistently slaughtered by police and never being brought to justice.

At first the conversation on started with co-host, Julie Chen, asking “What can we do to stop racial profiling?”

SARAH GILBERT’S OPINION:

That’s when co-host/actress, Sarah Gilbert, who was also clearly frustrated and was evidently recently awakened to the fact that police continue to target and kill African Americans:

Sarah Gilbert: “This is a new low to me…It’s so disheartening to me. He [Terence Crutcher] didn’t have a weapon. He didn’t have any drugs. He didn’t have any behavior that was alarming. His arms were up. I don’t understand. There was…practically seven police officers there or something. Why this officer could’ve interpreted as a threat, is so beyond me. I mean, I don’t know…maybe it should be prosecuted when someone uses such poor judgement like this…I mean that’s the only thing I can think of [as a resolution to how you stop the unwarranted killings by police officers].”

AISHA TAYLOR’S OPINION:

Then co-host, Aisha Taylor, who was also highly upset, stated her point that it’s time for America to cut the BS and start looking at racism for what it is, so that we can all fix the problem:

Taylor: “Look, this is hard stuff to talk about, but we have a legacy of racism in this country and if we don’t start calling this racism then we can’t fight it. […] Cops have to be trained differently. […] We have to change how we see each other, and we cannot do that until we say what it is, which is that racism and fear of Black men specifically drives these shootings. We have to change as a nation, fundamentally!”

SHERYL UNDERWOOD’S OPINION:

Lastly, Sheryl Underwood chimed in with her stance on America’s injustices and she soon began to break down in tears while discussing the massacres of so many innocent Black people by police officers:

Underwood: “You don’t have to train the police not to shoot White people, why you got to train them not to shoot us? […] First thing you gotta do, you gotta make it a hate crime. You gotta put people in jail, when you shoot somebody under the color of authority you need to lose your job and you need to lose your livelihood and you need to lose your freedom, like every other American loses their freedom.” Sheryl then tearfully added, “Remember there are good police officers out there and the ones that are not, they need to go jail. Don’t tell me this, we got to train! Y’all White and y’all drive all the time and don’t nothing happen to y’all. And we black I’m afraid to drive my damn car! Until y’all feel that, this is not going to stop! Until y’all who are non-Black feel that and stand with us, this is NOT going to stop!”

On a side note, it’s difficult for me to write this article without my thoughts being clouded by the harsh reality that Officer Betty Shelby is currently enjoying her freedom on her PAID leave of absence after murdering Terence Crutcher in cold blood. The possibilities of what she could be doing right now are endless- for example, she could be at home watching television, or surfing the ‘net and sipping on a mimosa while reading this article…as her team tries to find a way to clean up her murderous mess.

While on the other hand, Terence Crutcher’s four children and family are crying endless tears of grief and planning his funeral as we speak. We have to change this all too common reality…

Twin SISTER Of Police Murder Victim, Terence Crutcher, SLAMS Police!

If you’ve seen the video of the brutal murder of unarmed Terence Crutcher at the hands of Tulsa, OK police officers who killed him simply because his car stalled in the middle of the road, then you’re probably just as saddened and pissed off as I am. But as you can imagine, no one’s more hurt and angered than Terence’s family and loved ones. Terence’s twin sister, Dr. Tiffany Crutcher, in the midst of her grief, has boldly stepped up to the podium today at the family’s press conference to issue a thorough bashing of the Tulsa officers involved in the murder of her innocent, unarmed brother. Tiffany also referenced the totally biased and inaccurate reporting by one helicopter officer during the shooting incident who described Terence as “One big bad dude.” See what Tiffany said below…

“We are truly devastated, the entire family is devastated. […] You all want to know who that big bad dude was? That big bad dude was my twin brother. That big bad dude was a father. That big bad dude was a son. That big bad dude was enrolled at Tulsa Community College. […] That big bad dude loved God. That big bad dude was at church singing with all his flaws every week. That big bad dude, that’s who he was.”

When Terence Crutcher was fatally shot by Tulsa cops on Friday, the reports stated that he was violent, resistant, and went to his car to get something after police told him to put his hands up. BUT now that the Tulsa police department had to release the dash cam footage earlier today, it is very clear to see that the TOTAL opposite happened, as Terence was completely compliant with his hands raised high in the air, and didn’t appear to be disobeying the cops’ orders prior to being tasered and then fatally shot.

The officer who fired the fatal shot is Officer Betty Shelby, who ordered Terence to raise his hands and walk to the police SUV, as she followed behind him with her gun drawn and as a second officer had his taser gun aimed at Terence. Terence’s back was turned to Shelby and when he reached the SUV he appeared to simply lean against it with his hands still raised high above his head. Then all of sudden a gun shot is heard, Terence falls to the ground and Shelby yells into the radio, “Shots fired!”

If this is not proof of injustices that continue to be shown to African Americans at the hands of some trigger happy police officers yet again, then I do not know what further proof is needed.

Times have not progressed much since the days of Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised;” times have not wavered much since Marvin Gaye cried out for equality in “What’s Going On;” and our society certainly hasn’t changed all that much since Sam Cooke was singing “A Change Is Gonna Come.” ‘Nuff said.
