In fact, one of his first memorable roles was in Friday After Next, when he played the hilarious crackhead, ‘Broadway Bill,’ who robbed ‘Money Mike’s’ (Katt Williams) clothing store and ultimately got busted by ‘Craig’ (Ice Cube) and ‘Day-Day’ (Mike Epps). ‘Money Mike’ then proceeded to try to slice him up with an old school box cutter, as ‘Broadway Bill’ taunted him and to this day, that scene is still one of the most hilarious in the movie. Chris now has recurring roles on the TV shows, The Great Outdoors and Silicon Valley.

And there ya’ have it ILOSM fam’…if you didn’t know, now you know…there are TWO talented Williams siblings gracing the world with their gifts through film, music, and television. Their Mother must be beyond proud of her babies.

MEET VANESSA WILLIAMS’ FAMOUS DAUGHTER NOW

Jillian Hervey is the daughter of Ramon Hervey (Vanessa’s ex-husband) and the legendary, Vanessa Williams. You may not know her by her name, but her neo-soul group, Lionbabe (of which Jillian’s the lead singer), is very well known amongst their hundreds of thousands of fans.

When Lion Babe came together, their goal wasn’t just to deliver good music, but they wanted to send a message to the world. Lion Babe’s motto is about embracing your uniqueness and rockin’ it. The neo-soul group is comprised of two members: vocalist, Jillian Hervey, and record producer, Lucas Goodman.

The group derived it’s name from Goodman’s zodiac sign, as he is a Leo and from Hervey’s golden mane, which resembles that of a lion.

Both Goldman and Hervey made a musical connection when Hervey was attending a New York college. A dance major interested in performance art, Hervey had the task of performing a dance to original music.  She knew exactly who to call.

After contacting Goodman, they had a conversation that led to Hervey’s interest in signing. Goodman encouraged her and he believed her soulful sound was very similar to Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu.

With a strong underground following, the group has opened up for rapper, Childish Gambino (a.k.a. actor, Donald Glover), and collaborated with super music producer, Pharrell Williams. In 2015,  Lion Babe released the song, “Wonder Woman,” which went on to peak at number one on Billboard’s interactive chart, ‘Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists.’

While Lion Babe’s fan base is growing, lioness, Jillian Hervey, wants her success to be authentic. In speaking with Page Six, she shared how she avoids telling people who her famous moms is, because she wants to make it on her own merits. She spoke openly about keeping her familial connection to Vanessa on the low:

“I never walk into a room and say, ‘Hi! I am Vanessa Williams’ daughter,’ ” [Jillian Hervey] told Page Six at Hammerstein Ballroom. “It helps me to become more authentic.”

People loved her before, but Jillian just gave fans another reason to fall in love with the Lion Babe.

There was a time in 1983 when Vanessa Williams was at the top of her game – she was crowned the first African American Miss America and was in hot demand in entertainment, then as we all recall, it came crashing down…hard.

After Penthouse released nude photos of Vanessa Williams, the Miss America powers-that-be stripped the “The Right Stuff” singer of her scepter, her crown, her title and whatever other duties come along with winning that pageant. Then came the public persecution and the media mayhem…ironically, that is was later skyrocketed her acting and music career into another stratosphere…we’ll get to that in a second. But first lets get to the very shocking truth that Vanessa Williams recently revealed about those nude photos and the very sad, but REAL reason why she ultimately had no choice but to drop the lawsuit she and her parents had against Penthouse Magazine over her nude pics. The reason was something she said she never wanted to tell ANYONE, not even her parents and she revealed it in an interview with NPR…

On what made her take the naked photos in the first place, some of which included sexual acts with another woman:

WILLIAMS: Well, I try to illustrate in the book, my mother kept saying: You’re just like your father; you’re too trusting. And there’s a part of me that, I do give people the benefit of the doubt. I do value friendships. And when people give me their word, I listen to them. And it’s also being free. … When you say no, I say well, you know what? I’m going to do it anyway.

And that was the mode I was in at that particular time, when I took those racy pictures, because I was already in college so you can’t tell me what to do. So… my mentality was what – I’m living my own life; I’m a spirited, young woman; I can handle this; I can handle anything. And at 19, you think you rule the world, and you can control things. And a lot of times, you don’t. And again, when… everything happened with this scandal…I had not signed a [photo] release. So I had trusted the person that had taken the photos, that I had worked for, that there was nothing, legally, that he could actually do.

Here’s the sad, shocking truth Vanessa revealed about why she ultimately dropped the lawsuit:

WILLIAMS: We had a lawsuit against Penthouse that my parents were paying for – and both of them are music teachers, so they weren’t making a tremendous amount of money.
And one of the stories I tell [in my book] was that when, after going through a few rounds of deposition and them just being as brutal as possible to me, my lawyer said ‘Listen, was there any time you were ever with another woman sexually – because, you know, these pictures have you with another woman, and they’re going to ask you.’ And I said well, the only time I was ever with another woman was when I was 10, and I was molested by an 18-year-old. And he said ‘well, you know, they’re going to bring it up on the stand. So when we get to trial, I just want you to be aware of that.’ And I hadn’t told my parents, and I hadn’t revealed this to anyone. And I said, you know what? I’m done. I don’t want to go through this anymore.

We salute Vanessa Williams for being so open about something that is extremely personal and hurtful.

Remember when actress/singer, Vanessa L. Williams, was married to her husband, Ramon Hervey II? Shortly after her Miss America-Playboy scandal (in which I personally felt that the pageant did her dirty), Ramon stepped in and married her in 1987. It was like a real life “Cinderella” story, where she was stomped on by the media, but then she bounced back and kicked them in the you-know-what, by nourishing her singing career and finding happiness in her personal life.

Although their marriage didn’t last, Ramon and Vanessa were blessed with three children: Melanie, Jillian, and Devin Hervey. It’s the latter we’re discussing in this article. Throughout the years, we’ve seen Devin walk red carpets with his moms, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen him.

Nobody can ever deny legendary singer/actress, Vanessa Williams,’ talent, grace, or beauty. She has been charming audiences with her sophistication for over thirty years, and she still remains gorgeous to this day. But even someone as attractive as Vanessa has had to endure the westernized beauty standards of Hollywood. And even during the height of her career, she had executives looking her over and convincing her that she wasn’t good enough.

The Right Stuff

There are few people in Hollywood who can have the kind of career Vanessa has had. She started out as a beauty queen, then was publicly disgraced when nude photos were released that caused her to be stripped of her crown. Nowadays a nude photo, or sex tape can aid in one’s career, but during the 1980’s, this was almost a fate worse than death. Still, she persevered and overcame the scandal. And what happened next, was a career that sparked a successful music, television, and movie career.

One of Vanessa’s most popular movies was the 1996 Arnold Schwarzenegger action film, Eraser. Though the film went on to gross over $240 million dollars, Vanessa finally admits that the success came at a price. And at the time, she basically starved herself for the approval of men who didn’t value her beauty.
